What can I put in my compactor?
The compactor is intended for general trash (paper, cans, and glass). It is recommended if disposing of unwrapped messy food waste or glass bottles or jars to place a couple of folded sheets of newspaper or a large paper grocery bag on top of the load before compacting. This will help keep the power ram clean. Never compact volatile material

How much trash can I put in the compactor?
You can add trash until the compartment is full and the compactor will not compact the trash any further. The compact cycle time will be shortened as the compartment fills up. During full cycle the ram travels 2/3 of the way down into the trash bucket. Because of this, you will not notice any compression of the trash until the bucket is ½ full

What color options are available?
The BROAN Elite and Elite XE series compactors are available with door finishes in white, black, and flat or arched stainless steel finishes

What size wood door are the models 15WT and 15XEWT designed for?
The wood door pan is designed to accommodate a ¾" thick wood panel that is 14-7/8" wide by 29-1/4" tall. It is recommended that you verify the height of the door pan prior to cutting the wood panel to size.

Are the compactor doors reversible?
Yes. Both the BROAN Elite and Elite XE are shipped with right hand hinges but the doors and hinges can be easily reversed with no additional parts needed.

What size under-counter opening does the compactor require?
The compactor requires a minimum under-counter opening of 15" wide, 34-1/2" high, and 22" deep.

Can the compactor be used free-standing?
Yes. As shipped, the compactor is configured for built-in installations but can be easily converted to free-standing with the use of the Toe Kick Accessory Kit Model 15TCTK(sold separately).

What are the electrical requirements for the compactors?
The units come with a 3-prong (grounded) plug for 120v service. A dedicated 15 amp circuit is recommended.

Is the compactor bucket or ram removable for cleaning purposes?
Yes, both are easily removable and instructions are detailed in the owner's manual.

What are the differences between the BROAN Elite and Elite XE trash compactors?
Basically the BROAN Elite series is a non-automated version of the BROAN Elite XE. It does include the same odor control protection, but instead of an automatic advance at the end of each month, the disc is advanced manually via a window in the odor control housing. Green labels with month indicators appear in the window. When the disc is rotated to the 6th and final month, a red label appears in the window alerting that a new disc is needed. Also, like the BROAN Elite XE, the BROAN Elite includes the option of holding the compacted trash for an extended period of time to ensure complete compaction. While the XE version is automatic, in the BROAN Elite models this operation is manual; push hold and unit compacts until the button is pushed again to release. The compaction plate features the same dimpled surface to crush bottles and cans but does not include the Microban anti-microbial protection.

Do I have to use BROAN-NuTone trash bags or will any trash bag work?
The BROAN-NuTone trash compactor bag is designed for our compactor and should be used only. Replacement bags can be ordered by visiting our website or calling BROAN-NuTone Customer Service Department at 1-800-558-1711. For the older 12" series BROAN compactors use part number S93620008. For the BROAN Elite and Elite XE 15" series compactors use part number S15TCBL.

How long is the warranty and what is covered?
