Broan-NuTone Announces the 2015 ULTRA PRO Challenge Winner

Winner goes head-to-head with his own brother at this year’s International Builder’s Show

HARTFORD, Wisconsin, January 23, 2015Broan-NuTone®, the leading manufacturer of residential ventilation products, announced this week the grand prize winner of its second annual ULTRA Pro™ Challenge at the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas.

Joseph Lareau set a new record, installing the ULTRA Pro™ Ventilation Fan in just 2 minutes and 21 seconds. After sailing through the semifinal round Wednesday morning, Lareau went head-to-head with his brother, Mark Lareau, that afternoon, beating him by just 1 second.

“I think everyone’s heart was racing,” said home improvement expert Danny Lipford, who introduced the competitors Wednesday. “You look around and the Broan-NuTone booth is just packed. It was a complete adrenaline rush to see two seasoned pros, family members nonetheless, battle it out.”

Last April, Broan-NuTone launched the 2014 ULTRA Pro Challenge, a 112-stop nationwide tour to identify the contractor with the fastest ULTRA Pro installation time. The challenge kicked off in Texas and concluded in Miami in November. The fastest installer from each location received a $500 Cabela’s gift card, and the fastest installer from each of the eight regions won an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas to compete for the grand prize, a 2015 Ford F150.

“The ULTRA Pro Challenge gets more competitive every year,” said Chris Kroeninger, vice president, wholesale sales, Broan-NuTone. “Time is money. It’s rewarding to see so much passion for the product and in turn, to know we’re getting these pros to the next job even faster.”

Grinning from ear to ear, Lareau accepted his award in the company of his brother and several other family members.

“This was amazing a rush…I had a few problems with the bracket due to nerves at the beginning and knew I’d have to step it up in order to beat Mark,” Joseph Lareau said. “This is a product we both install all the time, one we recommend every chance we get. Competing with him definitely added a new level of pressure.”

The company’s ULTRA Pro Ventilation Fan is designed for the fastest, easiest, most universal installation in the market. It is ENERGY STAR® qualified and recognized for its remarkably efficient and quiet motor.
