Rated 5 out of 5 by from BROAN RANGE HOOD I LOVE BROAN PRODUCTS. THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO NOT USE LED LIGHTS, BUT THEY ARE THE FUTURE IN LIGHTING. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH LED BULBS AND THEY LIGHT ON ALL THREE LIGHTING STAGES. THE FAN IS VERY QUIET. THE ONLY FAULT I HAVE NOTICED IS THAT THE EXHAUST FILTERS ARE AT THE REAR OF THE UNIT AND DON'T SUCK UP THE SMOKE IF COOKING ON THE TWO FRONT BURNERS VERY WELL. THE FILTERS ARE LARGE COMPARED TO MY OLD RANGE HOOD AND ARE EASY TO REPLACE OR CLEAN. OVERALL, AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT. I HAVE A BROAN EXHAUST FAN IN MY BATHROOM. IT IS ALSO QUIET AND EFFICIENT.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs and Works good after ordering new parts (broken when it arrived) and having electrician com in a fix & install. It seems to work fine now. The fan was broken in 3 pieces and a motor screw was missing when I opened the box. I decided I didn't want to wait for all the "RETURN ITEM" stuff, so I ordered the parts from Nutone and had an electrician come in and fix it when the parts came. I am glad to have it up and running and it looks great in my new kitchen, but the replacing parts on a brand new Item was a pain

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT PURCHASE This vent looks great, has great lighting, and good smoke removal when ducted out...when it works! I have had this fan 2 1/2 years and installed by a professional. A year after I had it installed the blower wheel had a crack in it. Thankfully Broan replaced at no charge. Now today I need a whole new control assembly at a cost of over $200! The vent "ticks" and won't shut off. I will NEVER by a Broan vent hood again. Very disappointing. I spent over $400 on this vent, I was expecting better quality. If you buy one get a extended warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great function and great looks We bought this when we remodeled our kitchen. Vented it outside and it works great. We love the auto heat build up feature, if you get to much heat it will raise the fan speed until it cools down and then go back to your original setting. The auto off timer too. We have had many compliments of how it looks in our new kitchen. No regrets at all!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This unit is a very nice and economical. The unit is good looking and very easy to keep clean compared to other stainless steel appliances. The controls are easily accessible and the filters are a snap to remove and clean in the dishwasher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NIce range hood All in all we like this range hood the light is plenty bright and it is nice that there are 3 choices for both the fan and light. It could be a bit quieter but it does a very good job. We replaced an over the range microwave with this as we didn't think it was doing a good enough job at clearing the air.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This Under Cabinet Hood looks great with our black stovetop. It was installed by the company from which we bought it. Our only problem was that it was hard to change the light bulbs and often the bulbs would go out even though they were not burned out. It was difficult to get them tightened just right. But, the problem has been eliminated by changing to a different style LED bulb recommended by the lighting representative at Lowe's...no more problems. It works great.

  • Can PAR20 LED bulbs be used in the QS236 model instead of halogen or incandescent bulbs?

We used the "leds" that you are asking about. They work great. They don't get hot and will last much longer.

    How to clean.

It has been two year since we had this hood. There is some grease build up on the fan blades. I can see it when I run my fingers between the blades. Since it is a centrifugal fan, is there a technique or any product to clean the fan Thanks.
    Asked by: rashi
To reduce the risk of electric shock, disconnect from power supply before cleaning. To clean hood: Remove filters. Use a damp cloth and a mild detergent to wipe all grease-laden surfaces. Do not use abrasive cloth, steel wool pads, or scouring powder on the Teflon® coated bottom cover or on any painted surface. Use care when cleaning blower wheel - it must not become bent or misaligned. DO NOT ALLOW WATER TO ENTER MOTOR. Make sure all surfaces are completely dry before re-installing filters and restoring power. Motor is permanently lubricated. Do not oil or disassemble motor.

Can I mount the QS230SS30 under a 15" deep cabinet?

I am a cabinet designer and often use a 15" deep cabinet over the hood. It seems like that would not work in with this hood since I see some venting at about that location.
    Asked by: cabinetqueen47
Could be used, but would have a vent going through cabinet if venting to exterior

Cannot access bulb to change (Installed the bulb such that it is recessed inside of hood...no access)...In attempt to try and get access pushed the

whole assembly up into the hood where it is dangling freely even further up in the hood. How do I take apart the hood in order to gain access to the assembly to replace? I have removed the three screws in front and have taken the filters out but it appears that the hood is one solid piece?
    Asked by: Mick
Mick, Need to get in contact with Broan about this...I had the same problem and they sent me a new lighting assembly that had much stronger clips to hold it in place. The size of the bulb makes a big difference also. The only thing that you can do at this stage is take off the front (remove 5 screws and take lighting unit out (make sure you unplug the connector as the wires are bare on back of the lights. Replace both bulbs and re-screw the front plate back up into the unit. Good Luck. JosephWolfsonSr

    Clicking sound won't stop

Hello, Ever since it was installed, I hear a clicking sound. My lightbulbs were quite tight so I had to remove the bottom cover to change the bulbs. I noticed that when the bottom cover is not in place, there is no clicking noise. As soon as I put the bottom cover back, the noise comes back. I could not find what would be the cause, except that it's related to the bottom. Has anyone experienced this? Perhaps Broan has a fix? Thanks!
    Asked by: GabrielR
Gabriel, I would recommend placing a thin strip of weather strip foam or 3M double sided tape on the sides and lower interface (toward wall side of lights) to quiet the clicking, which was intermittent metal to metal contact in my case. One good test is to try placing light pressure on different locations while the noise is presenting, this will inform where to locate your damping material. Good luck. v/r Joshua
