Problem with lights
Like the other reviewer we have had constant issues with the lights. I replace the bulbs with G4 base bulbs to spec and still have issues. Now the transformer appears to be shorted out on two of the four bulbs. This is ridiculous for a range hood of this price. We bought it based on brand name and appearance. The switches on it too are very cheap feeling when being used. I believe inferior parts were used on the lighting and switches. I just called Brian today(FYI closed on Sunday). We will need to get someone to replace the transformer now to fix the lights. If this is a common issue from poor design and parts, Brian should pay, despite the short 1 year warranty.

Constant problems with lights
Have replaced all the light sockets once. It appears that the metal receivers inside of the sockets loosen and loose contact with the bulb prongs. Now the transformer went out. I have ordered a replacement. wish there was a retrofit with led lights.

The product is OK, but for the price I would have expected more robust controls with a rubberized grease cover. As it is, the controls feel brittle and shift around inside the housing.
I added a feature that should be standard on all Broan wall mount hoods: knife bar.
I fitted a very powerful 18" bar magnet inside the hood. This has magnetized the exterior side so I can stick my knives up there. Because there are no computerized features (WiFi, BT, or other nonsense) the magnet does no harm and provides a valuable surface for my work.

The lights on this product give me concern
The two lights on the right side stopped working. The bulbs were fairly new. Today, the two lights on the left side went out. I have no lights at all on my unit. Aside from this lighting issue the unit works great. I just wish the lights weren't so problematic. I have a friend with the same unit and she says one of her lights constantly dims.

Great product except for the lights.
I've had the unit for one month and replaced 2 of the Halogen bulbs.
Sometimes one of the light will not come on and you have to tap the socket or adjust the socket to get it to come on.

lights of poor quality rest of hood is good
With external blower unit removes smoke and odor very well. Filters of good quality and easy ot maintain.
Halogen lights are of poor quality and need constant attention with bulb adn fixture replacement as the socket/bulb connction disintegrates.

We replaced a hood that was built in under a cabinet with this one and the look is much cleaner and sleeker. Hooked it up to existing ductwork and an outside vent with no problems. Very quiet, even at highest speed.

Do you sell stainless steel trim to go around the chimney stack where it meets the ceiling?
Thank you for your question on the model 619004EX range hood. There is no option for an additional stainless steel trim for the top of the decorative flue.

I purchased this hood and found out I can only use a ductless installation. Can this hood be converted to a ductless format?
Thank you for your question on the model 619004EX range hood. The 619004EX is designed to only be installed with an in-line or externally mounted exhaust fan. It is not designed to be installed non-ducted.

I can't find mounting instructions for this model. Can it be installed with an elbow in the shell so that I can run it out the wall horizontally? Or must it be vented out the ceiling.
If I can duct it horizontally, is there a cap for the flue so I don't have to run flue ducting up to the ceiling for nothing?
Thank you for your question on the model 619004EX range hood. The installation instructions are available for download from our web site for your convenience. It is possible to bring the ducting up from the hood and use an elbow to vent out the wall. The decorative flues are made to go all the way to the ceiling whether you vent out the ceiling or wall. We do recommend two feet of straight pipe before you use any elbow. So you would need to duct out the hood vertically for at least two feet and then elbow out the back.
