Rated 2 out of 5 by Measure early!! We have a Broan QP430SS hood and chose the SP3004 stainless steel panel to have a matching stainless steel backsplash below the hood and behind the cooktop. We wanted a backsplash that was easy to clean and without grout lines. We chose a CaesarStone quartz countertop and we chose a cooktop with wall oven (to place oven away from cooktop which is opposite dishwasher). The 24" height of the stainless steel panel may be long enough to go from under hood to behind the top of a range, but with a cooktop mounted in the counter the 24" height was too short, so we decided to have a 4 3/4" backsplash of the CaesarStone all around to make stainless steel panel fit (and also to be able to mount outlets in CaesarStone backsplash instead of cutting them into the glass tile) Countertops, backsplash, and Broan QP430SS were all installed before the SP3004 stainless steel panel. Not sure if it was the vent hood specs that were off or if the SP3004 was a fraction longer than 24", but it didn't fit in the space that it should have & kitchen contractor had to send the panel out to be cut down to fit. Stainless steel matches the stainless steel of the hood, but is not finger-print proof and is a bit tricky to keep looking nice. I like the concept, but our kitchen contractors had some trouble mounting the panel (not smoothly and flatly adhered to surface) that they tried to fix. I also wish that the panel came in a longer length to accommodate folks who want to use it as backsplash between counter-mounted cooktop and vent hood instead of behind a range. March 10, 2014

Best type screw for mounting in drywall

I'll be mounting a SP3004 stainless steel backsplash in the drywall behind my range and QS130SS Allure under-cabinet hood. In earlier Q/A's you specified the use of #8 3/4" screws and anchors, and said it was OK to install the backsplash behind the hood although the hood would not be flush to the back wall due to the thickness of the screw heads. Please be more specific in the type of screw you recommend: I ask because flat head drywall screws typically have beveled undersides to the head. Since the stainless steel will prevent the beveled screw head from setting completely flush against the surface (as it would if screwed directly into the drywall, enabling the bevel to 'countersink' into the softer material), is there another type of flat head screw that you recommend that is also flat on the underside? I want a screw that will hold the backsplash as flat to the drywall surface as possible.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model SP3004 back splash. There is an abundance of screw types at your local hardware store that are appropriately flat-headed and will make no difference in the range hood fitting back against the backsplash. It's best if you just visit your local hardware store associate for suggestions.

Thank you for your question on the model SP2404 stainless steel backsplash. We do use Type 430 stainless steel. Type 430 stainless steel is magnetic because it does not have a high nickel content.

Can this backsplash be mounted behind a range hood?

I have a tile counter with a 6" tile backsplash. The distance from the top of the tile backsplash to the bottom of the cabinet above is 24", however, I'm also installing a range hood #Broan model 423601D# which will cover the top 6" of that 24" space. Can the SP360108 backsplash be installed so that the top 6" are between the wall and the back of the range hood?

Thank you for your question on the model SP360108 backsplash. The backsplash gets installed with four screws, one in each corner. The range hood will rest against the top two screws, but it would not hurt to install the range hood against them.

Thank you for your question on the SP300108 range hood back splash. The SP300108 is made from aluminum and is designed to be installed with four screws. We would not have a recommendation on how to glue it to the wall.
