I have a slide-in stove with a 9" deep raised shelf behind, 9" of void under shelf behind stove. Can I make this unit work?
My situation is almost exactly like the picture on this web page, except that instead of a cooktop, mine is a full range with ovens under, so the fan of this blower would need to be mounted on the rear facing face of the duct. Is this possible? Is there another downdraft blower that would work for me?
Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 down draft kitchen exhaust system. The RMDD3604 is only designed to work with a drop in cook top. It will not install properly with a slide in stove.

I am trying to determine whether the size of the unit mounted under the range top is the same size for both the internal blower or external blower. The size on the spec sheets looks like it is. If so, is the depth of the unit 7"? There is no additional blower unit for the internal system, correct. We are having custom cabinets made and the cabinet maker thought there was an additional blower motor that took up space under the range top. Can you clarify please. Thank you.
Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 down draft kitchen exhaust system. The housings on the RMDD3604 (internal blower unit) and the RMDD3604EX (external blower unit) are both the same. The bottom section of both units is seven inches deep. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 if you need further assistance.

Why in some pictures does the front panel have a grill (perforated) look and in other pictures it has a total flat front panel?
This is on the RMDD3604.
For example, on the web page below, when it is shown with the cooktop, the front panel is different than the "additional views".
Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 down draft kitchen exhaust system. There are three pictures on the web site you are referring to. Two of the pictures show the down draft system in the operating position with the “perforated grille” showing. The third view is with the unit detracted (as it would be when not in use). If not venting well, (external blower) what could be the problem?
Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 downdraft kitchen exhaust system. The first thing to do is to make sure the 2 aluminum/stainless steel grease filters are clean. If you have model RMDD3604, it would have an internal 500 CFM blower. If you have model RMDD3604EX, it would use an external blower or in-line blower. After cleaning the filters, if it still does not vent well, you would need to check the duct work and termination cap for obstructions and the blower for proper operation.
