  • RMDD3604 is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well, Installation not the easiest, could have better manual Works well but still dealing with some housing vibration noise. Unless you measure everything in the store, you will not realize how big this unit is and how much room it takes in the cabinet until you take it out of the box. It will work best with an extra deep or open back/open side cabinet. From the installation manual, I just was not sure I had the cutout right until I actually put the blower in place. (By the way - it is heavy.) Even after reading the install manual on electrical placement, I still ended up moving the plug in box.. Unless your gas line is already in place for the cooktop, wait to run it until you have the blower installed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OVerall Good value Works extremely well and consistently except one of the 6 burners does not function well. It sort of explodes heat. But the other five work perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product. Love the easy operation and attractive look. The downdraft functions excellent taking smoke and fumes out of my kitchen. The attractive style looks fabulous on my center island. Operates great and not too noisy even with fan on high. I love this product and would recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works great. Best price I found. It works great. It was the best priced model by $500 and it included the blower. Really easy to modify parts to work for the ductwork.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product and good styling Great value compared to upper end name brand downdrafts. Quality and noise are good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good vent wish it was a little taller, when using gas stovetop front burner it will not catch all the smoke as it is not quite tall enough and our very sensitive smoke alarm will go off...if you don't have cathedral ceilings & use the back burner it'd be perfect!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exhausts effectively, but noisy. Installation was not easy. The vent is noisier than I expected, especially at high speed exhaust. Fortunately the fan speed and noise can be adjusted. Insatallation was challenging. I was very difficult to attach the ductwork because there was so little space beloww and behind the unit. Also, the dimensions given do NOT include the 1/2" bolts sticking out of the back of the unit. The cabinet had to be cut away partly in back to allow for the extra space.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not included the remote button For the price you pay they should include the remote button with the unit. $1600.00 dollars later I had to call and order the 62.00 remote button. My mother is 4' 5" and no way could she lean over the stove to turn on the unit. This is a no brainer if you are spending that amount of money include the little remote button. It was a hassle and held up our construction and counter tops for a week waiting on this part.

  • I have a slide-in stove with a 9" deep raised shelf behind, 9" of void under shelf behind stove. Can I make this unit work?

My situation is almost exactly like the picture on this web page, except that instead of a cooktop, mine is a full range with ovens under, so the fan of this blower would need to be mounted on the rear facing face of the duct. Is this possible? Is there another downdraft blower that would work for me?

Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 down draft kitchen exhaust system. The RMDD3604 is only designed to work with a drop in cook top. It will not install properly with a slide in stove.

    RMDD3604 specs

I am trying to determine whether the size of the unit mounted under the range top is the same size for both the internal blower or external blower. The size on the spec sheets looks like it is. If so, is the depth of the unit 7"? There is no additional blower unit for the internal system, correct. We are having custom cabinets made and the cabinet maker thought there was an additional blower motor that took up space under the range top. Can you clarify please. Thank you.

Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 down draft kitchen exhaust system. The housings on the RMDD3604 (internal blower unit) and the RMDD3604EX (external blower unit) are both the same. The bottom section of both units is seven inches deep. front panel

HI, Why in some pictures does the front panel have a grill (perforated) look and in other pictures it has a total flat front panel? This is on the RMDD3604. For example, on the web page below, when it is shown with the cooktop, the front panel is different than the "additional views". http://www.broan.com/products/product/0f1c83ec-e8ec-43eb-9617-9c4e1e6c9f91

Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 down draft kitchen exhaust system. There are three pictures on the web site you are referring to. Two of the pictures show the down draft system in the operating position with the “perforated grille” showing. The third view is with the unit detracted (as it would be when not in use). Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.

If not venting well, (external blower) what could be the problem?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question on the model RMDD3604 downdraft kitchen exhaust system. The first thing to do is to make sure the 2 aluminum/stainless steel grease filters are clean. If you have model RMDD3604, it would have an internal 500 CFM blower. If you have model RMDD3604EX, it would use an external blower or in-line blower. After cleaning the filters, if it still does not vent well, you would need to check the duct work and termination cap for obstructions and the blower for proper operation. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 if you need further assistance.
