Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has done everything we expected and looks great too. We've had it for six months and we couldn't be happier. The variable speeds on the fan work great.

  • Can I vent this to the wall behind, then down the wall to the ceiling on the floor bellow(6'), then out to the side of the building(10')?

This would be 3 turns, two successive 90 angles. I know that it will reduce the effectiveness and affect the CFM's, but is there any reason I can not install a range hood this way??
    Asked by: POOKY
Thank you for your question on the model EW5830SS range hood. This unit is designed to duct up, and out the wall that the unit is mounted on, or straight up and out the roof. If you use more than ten feet straight, of rigid duct work on this fan, you will begin losing CFM. With the installation you are suggesting , you would lose a large amount of CFM, and the performance of the range hood will be greatly reduced Please contact our Technical Service department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance or questions.

Can you use more than one flue extension per hood?

Is it possible to stack the flue extensions (FXNE58SS) one on top of the other to get a height taller than 10" on the EW5836SS?
    Asked by: smalmstrom
Thank you for your question on the model EW5836SS range hood. The EW5836SS will fit in an installation where the ceiling is either eight or nine feet high. The flue extension (model FXNE58SS) can be used for ceilings between nine and ten feet tall. There is no option for ceilings over ten feet tall. You cannot stack the extensions together.

How wide is the chimney at the top. I need to move the 6" vent a few inches due to a truss.

I have a truss directly over where I'm installing my hood.
    Asked by: bikerdude
Thank you for your question on the model EW5836SS range hood. The top of the chimney measures 8-3/4” wide and 6-7/8” deep.

    celaning the hood

What do you recommend for cleaning the outside of the stainless steel hood? What is the best way to clean the filters?
    Asked by: Ranger
We thank you for your question on the EW58 range hood and apologize for the delay in our reply. For performance, appearance, and health reasons, clean filter, fan and grease-laden surfaces. Use only a clean cloth and mild detergent solution on stainless and painted surfaces. Clean all-metal filters in the dishwasher using a non-phosphate detergent. Discoloration of the filter may occur if using phosphate detergents, or as a result of local water conditions - but this will not affect filter performance. This discoloration is not covered by the warranty. Personally, I prefer to wash the filters in the sink with hot water and Dawn dish soap. It is a very good degreaser. If you have further questions, please contact our Technical Support directly at 800-637-1453.
