  • 637004EX is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Effective but noisy I bought the Broan 637004EX with the external 331H external exhaust fan with quietness of operation a close second to effective exhaust in mind. I chose this model since it was listed as amongst the quietest at 0.4--1.5 sones/100cfm. Also, for reasons of quietness of operation, I opted for the external exhaust, even though it complicated the installation. The 331H exhaust fan is rated at 600CFM, which translates to 2.4--9 sones. After installation per instructions with 10 inch ducting, the unit measures 46 sones at the high setting to 42 sones at the lowest setting (83--81dB). The technicians at Broan were only able to reassure me that the controls and motor are operating as designed but were not able to help me attain the noise levels advertised on their website. It should be added that since the sliding fan control is a voltage regulator (120V--80V), further voltage reduction could slow the fan further and result in quieter operation, but that is not an option offered by Broan. Our neighbors have a GE exhaust hood with an excellent range of operation, so I would recommend looking elsewhere if quiet operation is a consideration.I

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and care for. This unit has out surpassed my expectations. Well lit and the outside variable exhaust motor does the job in getting rid smoke and odor. One main advantage it's easy to keep clean, the filters pop right out and I put them into the dishwasher.

  • What other inline blowers can be used with this hood?

I have an existing Fantech FG 10 blower in place above old range hood, will the controls on your hood work with my existing blower?
    Asked by: Tom
Thank you for your question on the model 637004EX range hood. The only exterior blowers that we recommend using with the 637004EX range hood are our models 331H, 332H, 335 and 336.

What kind of filter is this model using?

I prefer baffle filters. But the specification doesn't mention the filter type explicitly.
    Asked by: kai
Thank you for the question on the 637004EX range hood. The 637004EX uses aluminum mesh grease filters that are dishwasher safe. This unit does not offer baffle filters as an option.

what size blower do you recommend for efficient removal of smoke and grease when cooking. Is the internal or external blower more effective

    Asked by: ap
"Thank you for your question regarding the 637004EX. The size of blower needed would depend upon the type of cook top this hood is installed over. If you have a gas cook top, you want to add up the total BTU's of the cook top and divide this number by 100. This will give you a minimum CFM rating that your hood should be. This is a good place to start when choosing the proper blower for your hood. Both internal and external blowers are effective for removing contaminants from the home. As long as you have the correct size blower, both will be effective. Determining where you want the blower to be located is another question you will need to figure out. Do you want the blower inside the hood, outside of the home, or in another area of the home like the attic? If you want the blower sound outside of the kitchen, then you would probably opt for an external or in-line blower option. Just remember, wherever you install the blower you will need to be able to service it. Should you have further questions, please contact our Technical Support at 800-637-1453. We hope this is helpful."

How may watts does the hood use

How may watts are used by the blower at various speeds
    Asked by: Pete
Thank you for your question on the model 637004EX range hood. The amount of power the 637004EX would consume is dependent on the exterior blower that is connected to it. The hood itself will draw 0.86 amps for the lighting only. The spec sheet is available for download from our web site and it lists the amperage of each of the eight power units available for use with this hood. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.
