Is there something better for filtering grease?
I have a model 41.000-L range hood, less than a week in use. Cooked one pack of bacon. I have grease on the outside of the hood at the exit vents. I never had this problem with the old range hood which had two layers of filtering - first layer was similar to the 41F filter and the layer closer to the fan was a rigid filter with what looked like charcoal pebbles (about the size of peppercorns).
Is there some other filter I can put in this range hood that can be more effective? The pre-installed filter is installed correctly with no bypass. Last thing I want is to have to disassemble the fan and clean the fan housing every couple of months.
The bottom of the range hood is 20.75" above the surface of the stove. I'll contact support if I don't see an additional staff response.
On a separate note, your web form will not allow spaces or punctuation in the nickname for responses, but seems to for the original question, so I am responding with a different nickname.

How many filters
If I buy part 97007696 through the shop for parts, is it 6 filters or one?
Thank you for your question on the 41F. The 41F is a six pack. The part number of 97007696 is the single part number and would contain a quantity of one.

what is the correct filter for my broan range hood?
I have broan range hood 46000 E with an outside duct. the decal on the inside of the hood says filter 97007696 (10 1/2" x 8 3/4"). that filter is described as a ductless filter, is that correct? if not, what is the correct filter for this range hood?
Thank you for your question on the model 46000 E series range hood. The 46000 series range hood could be installed either ducted or non-ducted. The part number 97007696 would be a non-ducted charcoal filter. Since you have your hood ducted, the aluminum mesh grease filter you would need is part number 97006931. You can get this filter through the “Shop for Parts” link at the top of our web site page. Our customer service can also assist you with ordering parts at 800-558-1711.

Do I need a charcoal filter? Is it optional?
I have the Broan Allure vent (Series QS2 / 0805 ) and there are currently no charcoal filters between the mesh screen and the fan. Are the filters an extra layer of filtration or a necessary part that I'm just missing?
Thanks for your help!
Thank you for your question on the 41F non-ducted filter. If your QS2 range hood is ducted to the outside, you do not need the charcoal filter.
If your range hood is not ducted to the outside and recirculates the air back into the kitchen, then yes you would need the charcoal filter. It would be used with the aluminum filters. This filter does not come with the hood and would be purchased separately.
