Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broan 437 duct roof cap Disappointed in the quality and engineering of the critter screen, and how it is retained. It was curled and we could not get it to seat properly without having to make a jig and clamp it in position. We then bonded it to the sides of the opening with silicone to form an effective retainer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised but needed adjustment Original roof cap my builder installed was under-sized for Broan outdoor vent hood and blower rated at 1000 CFM. I was getting a lot of blowback into the attice above my lanai. The 437 was the right fix. The unit breaths alot better and is quieter. The unit arrived with a couple of the sheet metal corners alittle bent and the damper kept getting hung up on the screen. After a few minor adjustments, it works fine.

  • Broan 437 has a square opening and the 10" conduit is round...

You said that the roof cap just sits on top of the conduit and a transition piece is not needed... However, the conduit is 10" round and the 437 Cap inlet is square.... How does this work? How is it connected? This doesn't seem right....

Will this cap prevent driving rain from entering?

The opening of the cap appears to be facing the side rather than facing down. My concern is that wind driven rain will be forced into the cap.

Thank you for your question on the model 437 roof cap for high capacity fans. The 437 is designed to be installed on sloped (not flat) roofs and the opening should be pointing down. Since this unit has a built-in spring-loaded backdraft damper, it should help keep water out, but since it is not installed properly, you may have leakage. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 if you need further assistance.
