Thank you for your question on the model EW5830SS range hood. This unit is designed to duct up and out the wall that the unit is mounted on or straight up and out the roof. If you use more than ten feet straight, of rigid duct work on this fan, you will start losing CFM. With the installation you are asking about, you will lose great amounts of CFM, the unit will be noisier and the motor will probably burn out prematurely.

This hood has an optional remote control (Model #BCR1) that enables operation of the blower speed, lighting and delay-off features from across the room. It is designed to work with the Broan Automatic Make-up air dampers (Model #MD6T or Model #MD8T). There is also an optional ducted or non-ducted flue extension (Model #FXNE58SS) to accommodate 9 ft to 10 ft ceilings.This hood is also convertible to non-ducted operation which would require the non-ducted kit (Model RKE58).

DELAY-OFF (10 Minute Delay-OFF)
Activates the 10 minute delay off feature when the fan is ON (any
speed). When activated, the blue LED indicator above the selected
speed setting will blink. The hood fan will automatically turn OFF after
10 minutes has elapsed. The DELAY-OFF button can be pressed at
any time during the 10 minute countdown to turn off the feature.
