  • Easy to install, this optional accessory disables the motor below 50° for climates where cold-weather condensation isn’t a concern and to extend motor life. The thermostat activates the motor at temperatures above 61° to vent air from dawn through dusk.

  • Effective attic ventilation requires air to exit at or near the peak of the roof and replacement air to be drawn in under the eaves of the house, via soffit venting. The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) recommends that powered attic ventilators provide at least 10 air changes per hour to equalize attic temperature.

Thank you for your question on the model 355SOBK solar operated attic ventilator and the CWT45 cold weather thermostat. The CWT45 is designed to work with the 355SOBK. It will disable the exhaust fan when the temperature goes under 50 degrees Fahrenheit and reactivate it when temperatures rise above 61 degrees Fahrenheit.

What is the power source for the thermostat?

Thank you for your question on the model CWT45 cold weather thermostat. The CWT45 does not use a power source. It is a bi-metal disc that will allow the fan to operate at temperatures above 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can this be used with the bathroom type ventilation fans to turn the fan on to exhaust heat out f an IT closet?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question on the model CWT45 thermostat. The CWT45 is an optional thermostat designed to cut off the power going to the motor of a solar powered attic ventilator at 50 degrees Fahrenheit. It is not designed to be used with any other fan. We do sell a wall mounted thermostat, model 70TW, that is designed to be used with our ceiling and wall mounted exhaust fans.
