I want to upgrade to the quietest fan that will fit the existing box. Is there one that I could add a light to.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question. The 690 kit was designed to upgrade the Broan model 688, with a housing size of 7 1/2 X 7 1/4. Please note that we also had a NuTone 663 which this kit does not fit . You may view the model 690 on our website. Please call our Technical Support Department at 800-637-1453 with further questions.

Is there a grille that is a little bigger that will fit the 688? Had it installed but the grille didn't quite cover up the entire opening in the ceiling.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 688 exhaust fan. The only parts available for the 688 would be the original replacement parts. You will need to patch the opening in the ceiling.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 671 exhaust fan. Revision A used the “A” style can/housing which measured 8” x 8-1/4” x 3-3/4”. Revision G introduced the “D” style can/housing in 1986 which measured 7-1/4” x 7-1/2” x 3-5/8”. The parts are not interchangeable between these versions.

I've got two late-70's era 689 bathroom fans with the less common 8 x 8.25 housing. Is there a replacement motor or entire kit for these old units? Thanks.

Thank you for your question on the model 689 exhaust fan. The fan assembly (motor, motor mounting bracket and blower wheel) is available through the “Shop for Parts” link at the top of our web site page. The part number would be 97012030.
