    Thank you for your question on the model 356BK attic fan. The normal recommended thermostat setting for the 356BK would be 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

    I'm trying to choose between the Broan 349BR and the 350BK roof mounted attic fans.

    I see from the specs that there are very small differences between the two models, such as 1000 versus 1050 CFM, roof cut-out diameters, housing and dome dimensions, metal versus PVC dome material, and max amps and volts. Can you help me figure out the most important differences so that I can select the right model for my application?

    You have hit on all the important points. The attic size would be the other difference between these two models. The 349BR is for attics up to 1400 square feet.     The Broan model 35316 gable mount fan is suitable for attics up to 2285 square feet. We do also have the model 353 gable mount attic fan which is suitable for attics up to 1460 square feet. We would recommend that you contact our technical support department for more information at 1-800-637-1453.     The 356BK powered attic ventilator is controlled by a thermostat so that they it will turn on when the attic gets hot. To be effective a temperature and humidly control pull outside air into the attic and exhaust the attic air. Our model 73 is a high temperature cut-off control and Model DH100W is a Humidistat Control.
