  • Roof matching domes means ventilation is less noticeable.

Too often, attic ventilation is overlooked, not to mention ignored as a place for energy savings. That's where BROAN solutions make sense. Consider this: air trapped in your attic can easily reach 150 degrees or more. With BROAN ventilation solutions, it's still a full 60 degrees cooler in the attic on a 90 degree day. That's why attic ventilation is critical to making any home more comfortable while lowering energy costs. Air conditioners can run less and won't have to work as hard. Humid, stagnant air can be removed, drawing fresh dry air across the surfaces. Your attic can be drier and cooler - the perfect tools to help fight potential moisture damage.

Each PVC dome is available in three popular performance ratings along with two metal dome models. Select one that best suits the attic size and shingle color.

  • Effective attic ventilation requires air to exit at or near the peak of the roof and replacement air to be drawn in under the eaves of the house, via soffit venting. The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) recommends that powered attic ventilators provide at least 10 air changes per hour to equalize attic temperature.

Is the motor and fan used on the 35316 and 356BR Identical?

I have a roof mounted fan and when the motor failed I noted that it was a model 353 motor so I replaced it with a model 35316 motor because it is a better motor. After 6 years the 35316 motor failed and I am wondering if the model 356BR has a motor specifically designed to operate vertically or is it the same motor used in the Gable mount which is operated horizontally. I changed just the motor because I didn't want to pull the housing out of the roof and cause the roof to leak. I am not sure if the 35316 motor is designed to operate both vertically and horizontally. In general I know that vertically mounted motors have thrust bearing capabilities.

    Thank you, Lee

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 353 and 35316 gable mounted attic exhaust fans. The 356BR motor will not work properly in the 353 or 35316. If you have a gable mounted fan, it should have the original replacement motor installed for proper operation and peak efficiency.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 356BR attic ventilator. There are no sound measurements on the attic ventilators. The sound level could vary with the amount of open return air area available for the fan.
