Rated 3 out of 5 by from very LOUD bought it to replace a Broan from the sixties. New one not built as heavy but I have no problem with it once mounted. The new one, the variable speed dual light setting, premium one is VERY NOISY compared to my old one ; which was a variable speed also. The 50 year old one worked just fine but was a bronze color that didn't look right with new white appliances. Wish I had bought a can of paint.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy! We ordered this fan to replace an older equivalent model, thinking it would be the easiest to install. The store where we purchased it did the work, but it did require some changes; it wasn't a straight plug-in replacement. The old one was noisy, but this one is even louder--so much so that we don't use it unless we have a lot of steam or strong odors, so we can't really comment on its effectiveness. Yes, we should have asked about the noise level. We might have been able to find a quieter model that would fit in the space without much retrofitting.

Why does the model 464204 say 220 cfm at the top but in the description it says 190 cfm? Which is it? Also do you have any 42" fans quiter than 7.5?

    Asked by: Amy
Thank you for your question on the model 464204 range hood. The 464204 range hood is specified at 190 CFM when ducted horizontally or vertically using 3-1/4” x 10” rectangular duct work. It is specified at 220 CFM when ducted vertically using 7” round duct work. We do have numerous 42” range hoods that have a lower sone level than 7.5. Please contact our Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for the options available.

    Louder than thought

I have just received and installed your model #463023 hood and am finding that it is considerable louder than i think it should be. I'm talking about so loud that it's hard to carry on a conversation any where near it. I hear a normal fan sound but also seem to hear a kind of hum, like a transformer/electrical resistor might make. How do i know if it is louder than it should be?
    Asked by: Bubba
This hood has a bit higher sone rating (7.5 sones) than several other models we offer. However, the hood should not be as loud as your description. There could be a potential issue with the installation or duct work and we would suggest you contact our Tech Support team (1-800-637-1453) to help trouble shoot this issue with you.

    What filters are available

What type of filter does this use and is it included? My old broan had a 3 layer filter Grease/carbon/dusk. Is that available for this model?
    Asked by: bill355
Thank you for your question on the model 463001 range hood. The 463001 comes with an aluminum mesh grease filter for use when the hood is installed as a ducted unit. If the unit is installed as a non-ducted unit, you can purchase an optional non-duct charcoal filter to help eliminate odors going back into the house. The non-ducted filter is part number 97007696 and it can be ordered under the Shop for Parts link on our website or by contacting Customer Service at 800-558-1711.
