Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heat Sensor "Safety Feature" That is the most annoying invention particularly since it cannot be switched off. I am in So.Cal. so most of the time windows and doors areopen when we are cooking and entertaining. All of a sudden - if cooking on more than one burner - the exhaust goes into overdrive which cannot be shut off. It is SUPER LOUD drowning out all conversation. There is no smoke it needs to remove, so it should have the option to be turned off. Usally, everyone drifts out of the kitchen other than the cook to get away from the noise. Irritating!!! I truly dislike this fan with the utmost passion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ventilation fan... great style We installed this about 5 years ago on our kitchen remodel. It hasn't had any issues. My only issue is that I wish it was easier to install higher, due to our joyce layout this is slightly overhauling our stove and I hit my head on the rounded glass corner occasionally (I'm 6'3") and we have 8 foot ceilings. Without trimming the brackets and cutting the sheet metal (would have been only possibility) to achieve the head room I needed. Other than that, occasionally the temp sensor goes off and drives it into over drive! When it's not even on, like cooking high temp oven below.)Not negative) Would definitely buy again, broan hasn't let me down yet, this is our 4th broan ventilation equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful island hood! I searched and searched for the "right hood" when we remodeled our kitchen. When I found this style, I knew it was right for our needs. We have a peninsula where our stove is, and I needed a minimalistic, clean lined hood. Next, I researched out who made the best hoods for residential needs. Broan is a very reputable company, and I thought I was getting an American made product! (that was my one disappointment upon delivery from this American Company, product-Made in China :( ) However, it is still a very high quality product! I love it, and we have gotten many compliments already.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from VERY ATTRACTIVE Grease filter fits loosely and makes loud noise getting seated when fan starts. Have to cycle lights through all levels to turn on/off. Should have controls like fan. Installer had difficulty getting exhaust pipe to clear control module. Very attractive and appears to work effectively based on limited use so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beatiful hood that we modified for lower ceiling and soffit installation. We installed this hood as part of a kitchen remodel last summer, and I am very happy with how it looks and works. We had some difficulties finding a hood that would work for us because we have standard 8' ceilings and we wanted the island hood hung a bit high due to the fact that we have tall men in our family and we didn't want them bumping into a hood or having it get in their way while cooking. After much research we chose this hood because with modification we were able to hang it 36" (the max recommended height) above our cooktop. POSITIVES: -It looks lovely. It is sleek and modern, without looking too modern in my transitional style home. The curve blends nicely with my GE Profile appliances. -The glass canopy makes it look less heavy and doesn't obstruct the view over my island as much as a solid canopy may. -It draws well enough, although I am sure it would be even better if hung lower. It is STILL better than our old island downdraft. -The three level lighting looks great. -The filter is easy to clean. NEGATIVES: -It is loud. We can't really carry on a conversation with it on the highest setting. -The glass does require a lot of cleaning, since any dust on top or grease on the bottom shows right away. MODIFICATIONS: The modifications ended up being a challenge, but with a capable contractor and electrician we are happy with the end result. We chose this model because the "guts" (blower, etc.) did not extend up the chimney so high that they prevented us from shortening the chimney. The first step was easy. The support frame was easily shortened with a hack saw and the stainless exterior sleeve was trimmed to our desired length. Installation was then complicated by the fact that when the ceiling was opened, one of the rafters was dead center above our cooktop, requiring us to build a small soffit in order to enclose the duct work as it bypassed the rafter. In the end, our electrician mounted the motor to the rafter. The soffit (finished with nice cherry trim to match our cabinets) covering the ductwork has a removable access panel in case we ever need to service the motor. It all looks and works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This range hood is exactly what I wanted! This hood was installed in a new home. Special framing had to be done to accommodate the exhaust, but the builder did this. I am impressed with the 4 LED lights with 3 brightness settings. Lots of light. The fan also is multi speed and surprisingly quiet for the open kitchen/family room in which it is installed. I haven't tried cooking curry yet. That will be the real test. This hood is really classy in my off white kitchen with stainless appliances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid performance, High value I installed this unit about 3 years ago over a 5-burner electric range. I am taller, so I installed it at the maximum recommended distance from the range surface to avoid bumping my head. It works well at this height but I would recommend keeping it in the low to mid range as it is less effective in pulling from the front burners due to the distance. It still works well enough overall but I need to use the higher settings often as a result. Install was easy with good instructions. The unit performs well, is easy to maintain, runs quietly and the timer feature as well as the lighting settings are big plusses. It also looks great. I would recommend this unit to anyone considering a new venting solution.

  • can this be mounted to match a vaulted ceiling angle?

    Asked by: Sned
The contractor that installed my hood would not install on a ceiling angle. Special framing was necessary and I purchased the extended exhaust for 8-1/2 foot ceilings.

how does one set the timer on a EI59?

    Asked by: Tad6612
Thank you for your question on the EI5936SS range hood. The delay off button is next to the light button. When you press the delay off button when the fan is on (any speed), the LED above the selected speed will blink. The hood will turn off automatically after 10 minutes. You will also find this on page 8 of the installation instructions, which you can download from our website.
