  • The new control uses Broan-NuTone’s proven Sensaire® humidity-sensing technology, which can detect a rapid rise in humidity to turn the fan on. It responds to increases in humidity up to 70% faster* than other humidity sensors, ensuring a more comfortable environment following a shower or bath.

    • Sensaire™ technology - Responds to increases in humidity rather than waiting for condensation to form or a relative humidity set point to be reached. It responds before moisture has chance to form to clear mirrors more quickly
    • Precise sensitivity adjustment - Variable setting from 20% to 80% relative humidity so the fan works when the homeowner wants it to regardless of climate or season
    • Continuous ventilation mode - Operates fan for set minutes per hour to achieve targeted average CFM levels and efficiently meet ASHRAE 62.2 whole house mechanical ventilation (WHMV) requirements
    • Sensaire™ with relative humidity set point mode - offers the flexibility to satisfy local range-of-adjustment codes
    • Decorator style design with settings behind concealed door – blends in seamlessly with existing switches
    • User-adjustable delay shut-off timer – allows run-time customization for different bathrooms
    • Manual operation mode for ultimate user control
    • Can be used to comply with California Title 24 and CALGreen
    • LED “On” indicator light and manual operation mode
    • Fits single-gang box; 120 VAC, 60 Hz
    • Faceplate not included
    • Requires neutral wire for operation

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Comes On/Stays On Too Much I bought this to conx with my 6" Broan bathroom exhaust fan but it comes on all the time. I have even adjusted from the 10% to 80% and it seems to do nothing different. I did read the other (1) review and he adjusted the "time" function so I will try this next.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work These switches turn on in the middle of the night. I tried to adjust the sensitivity and the time on but could not make them change. They were way more pricey than the local hardware store so I hoped they would work better.

  • Is this comparible to the Leviton IPHS5-1LW?

I have a customer inquiring about getting a Leviton IPHS5-1LW, and I would rather sell him a humidity switch from Broan. Is this comparable or is there something else Broan has that is more comparable?
    Asked by: BILL
Thank you for your question on Broan controls. The Broan 82W would be the closest control we would have to the Leviton IPHS5-1LW. If you have further questions you can contact our Technical Support directly at 800-637-1453

are the humidity sensing and continuase minuets per hour able to be used at the same time ?

    Asked by: bruce
Thank you for your question on the model 82W humidity sensing switch. When used in the CYCLE Mode, the control provides a pre-set ventilation ON Time for meeting continuous ventilation codes. After the initial ON time is set by manually turning the fan ON, the control will provide continuous activation cycles every hour. Also Sense on Rise is active in the Cycle mode, so if the control is in the "Fan OFF" portion of the cycle and it senses a rise in humidity, it will bypass the remainder of the OFF cycle and start a new ON cycle with a time duration equal to the TIME potentiometer setting. Should you have further questions, please contact our Technical Support Department directly at 800-637-1453.

Optimal Location in a Bathroom for Sensor

I am building a new home and the master bathroom will use a Broan QTX110HL (which has the exhaust fan, light (2) and heater. The bathroom will have a 4' x 7' walkin shower and a stackable washer/dryer units. The entire bathroom footprint is 11.5' x 15'. Please tell me "where" is the best place to locate the 82W humidity sensor. For example: by the shower's egress wall because I can manually turn on the fan switch for the toilet "Smell" area (about 3 ft away from the shower's egress. OR...should I put the sensor closer to the Dryer/Washer area.
    Asked by: Bigred
Thank you for your question regarding the 82W Humidity Sensing Wall Control. This unit can be located anywhere in the bathroom and properly operate once humidity in the room has reached the desired set point that you choose. However, you putting it closer to the shower will ensure a quicker response to the humidity. If you need further assistance, please contact Technical Support at 1-800-637-1453.
