Light not working
Hi, I have had this for just over 3 years. Recently the right side light went out. I replaced bulb with working bulbs and it does not work. Any suggestions? I have tried using bulbs that work in the left side. No other issues. I would like this problem resolved. Thanks.

Very quiet and effective at removing smoke and odors.
We've been extremely pleased with this hood. It is much quieter than our previous one and has some really great features, too. I like the variable fan speeds available - with the different levels I can use it for all my needs. I like that it can use either halogen or standard incandescent lights, too - incandescents don't get as hot as halogen, so, I prefer those in the summer and they are plenty bright, even on the middle setting. The highest fan speed is a bit loud, but, considering how well it works and the infrequency of when I use it - like when broiling with the oven door ajar - it is fine. I mostly use level 2, which is pretty quiet. The other speeds work great, are very quiet and at the lowest setting, unless you check, you'll swear it isn't running, but, it is! I like the smooth rounded front of the hood, as do the taller members of the family - no more knocked heads on sharp edges when bending down to check a pot! Other than the next three comments, I would give the unit an Excellent rating all the way around, and I would still recommend it to others wholeheartedly. My first two biggest complaints are the installation requires two people, as it is pretty heavy and the light switches are recessed so that it is hard to determine where the ON/OFF buttons are when there are no other lights on in the kitchen area. (We like to leave the hood's lights on low in the kitchen if someone is coming home late at night so there are lights on but not really bright lights on all over the house.) This means that if you get up in the night and decide to just put on the low light switch on the hood, you can't really see or feel where the ON/OFF switch is or, if the lights are already on but, at the lowest brightness setting, because they are recessed, they don't light up the ON/OFF switch so you can find it. (I've been planning to try gluing a bit of velcro or put a dab of fingernail polish on the ON/OFF light switch so it can be found by touch, but, worry it might mess up the integrity of the flexible material over the ON/OFF switch.) Thirdly, there is a tiny bit of air flow that comes out from the top vents of the unit when the fan is on, but, it is then pulled downwards and across the lights and then up into the fan area and out of doors through the piping. Don't be distressed by this seemingly odd behaviour - it does work properly and doesn't shove the smoke out into the room even though you can feel it on your face/chest. I'd also like to give a shout out to the Broan support staff for excellent help. I stored this unit for a couple of years in our garage while I redid our kitchen, and I managed to lose a couple of pieces, including the manual and the washable filters. They were very helpful at answering my questions and getting me the exact filter models I needed! Overall, a really nice product and I look forward to many years of use! With some tweaks to the switches so they can be located easily in the dark, I would say it is nearly perfect!

I really like this range hood. The fan is powerful and removes smoke and oders efficiently. It is very noisy on the high setting; but it quickly removes smoke and oders.

The product was easy to install and works but I had anticipated being able to use the full CFM capabilities. Since I installed it as ductless you can't use all four fan settings just 1 and 2. So it is overkill in my situation. Looks great and works fine on the first two settings but I didn't need to spend the extra for the added CFM I'll never use. Should be made much clearer. The lighting is particularly good.

Not easy to install. Lighting is great. Steam and smoke removal best on left side of stove.
Overall the product is good. I had a professional electrician do the removal of the old hood and installation of the Broan. He and his helper carefully followed all the directions and remarked that it was not a simple installation. When it was complete, the test revealed a problem with the fan. The hood had to be completely removed, and it was found that the fan housing was loose on its plate. The electrician had to disassemble the fan unit (which was supposed to be installed as is) and tighten the bolts on the housing, then reinstall the hood. This added about an hour to the time and cost me more than should have been. I think the lights work very well, but on fan speed 2 there is no air flow into the hood from the right side of the stove which is where the burner I use most is located. Time will tell if this will be a problem.

Other than the fact that the fan speeds below high wouldn't work when we first purchased the vent, the vent has been great. Broan paid for an electrician to fix the problem.

Worked great until it didn't
I installed my Allure QS3 approximately 11 years ago, and it ran flawlessly until this week. I came home after a cleaning service had just cleaned the kitchen to find that the unit wasn't working properly. Neither the lights or the fan would run when I pressed the key-pad, although the fan setting LEDs did light up. I jumped on the Broan website and downloaded the installation manual which said this was the classic example of blown fuse--Great, I thought, that should be easy to fix.
So, I run out and purchase a box of fuses and take the unit apart. oddly the exploded view didn't show where the fuse was located but based upon the description I expected it to be on the control board. When I got inside the unit though, no fuse or fuse holder anywhere?
Once again I returned to the internet, and found a forum discussion about this where others also found there wasn't a fuse. Presumably Broan may have added this functionality in later years? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, now I have a decision, replace the control board or replace the whole unit.
Btw, I also installed this unit, as a top-ducted installation, and as I recall configuring it to vent with a rectangular duct out the top required a fair amount of retrofitting and ingenuity. Once installed, however, I loved this unit. very quiet ,yet powerful and up until now dependable.

How do I turn off the filter cleaning reminder light?
Just touch the button. Although when my light comes on, I always rinse my filters off with very hot water, tap them dry, put them back in, and the light stays off.

What is the most "quiet" way of ducting to the outside in a verticle fashion, rectangle or round duct work?

No ducts necessary, right..?
Before I buy the QS330, how effective is with fry fish and other strong odors..? My husband doesn't want to install any kind of duct and I have enough cleaning greasy cabinets.....I have a big kitchen but the old hood is not working anymore, it's old and use carbon filters......so, all the house smells every time I cook.
Thank you for your help, have a nice day...!!!

I've lived in multiple houses and apartments with ducted and ductless hoods and there is no comparison between the two for getting rid of smells. Even the best ductless hood can't hold a candle to a ducted hood and charcoal filters can only do a little. This particular unit works fabulous with a duct at getting rid of smells and odors and the (non-charcoal) metal filters can be washed in your electric dish washer to keep the greasiness down. I'd recommend you try to get the ductwork installed - it is the best way to solve the smell and grease problems of running ductless. (We had ductless in this house when we moved in and my husband installed a duct and it made a huge difference! No more smoke alarms going off! I can a lot and broil a lot. With the duct its no problem!) Good luck!

how do we change the filter ?
You push towards the back with the tab, and it pops out. You do not need a new filter. Just wash it. Soak it in a good degreaser soap solution, then rinse it really good with very hot water.

and it matches all of them just fine.
