Does this product work with 6" solid duct?
I see the installation instructions only mention insulated flex duct.
Thank you for your question on the 6” roof cap. Yes, this unit can be used with 6” rigid duct work.

Spring for this cap
Where do I get the spring for this cap. The house I purchased has this cap mounted in a side wall, and I need a spring to keep the backdraft damper closed, as there is about a 1" gap all the time. I am having a problem with the wind pushing down the pipe to the range hood. This causes frost on the pipe which later melts on to the stove.
Thank you for your question on the model 634M roof cap. The 634M is a roof cap and has a built-in gravity damper. This unit is designed to be installed on a roof and not on a wall. There is no spring for this unit.

What transition piece do i need to attach to the ductwork?
I purchased a vent that is for 6-8 inch or rectangular ducts (I plan to use a 6 inch round duct for my range ventilator) but there were no transition pieces inside like there were for the 4 inch units that I purchased at the same time. Is this a Broan piece or a duct piece?
Thank you for your question on the model 634M roof cap. The model 634 roof cap is for 3 1/4" x 10" or up to 8" round duct. It could be possible that you have purchased the 634 and not the 634M. The 634M roof cap should include a 6" diameter collar that accepts 6" insulated flexible duct. If this was not with it contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for assistance.

When using with a Broan PM500 Series Range Hood do I remove the backdraft damper since the hood already has one or leave both in place?
Thank you for your question on the 634M roof cap to be used with the PM500 range hood. We recommend that you use both the damper that comes with the hood and the roof cap with the built-in back draft damper.
