Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy at low fan speed Very disappointed with the noise level at the low fan speed. Many exhaust fans will have noise ratings for each speed however this one does not. Given its performance, it's pretty clear why they did not publish the rating at lower speed. Very loud.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice fan but.... I love how this looks and how it's constructed. But unfortunately, we didn't discover that it made a loud clicking sound until it was fully installed. Evidently something was rubbing against the fan blades. The Broan people were very responsive and took care of it.....but it added a lot of time and trouble at the very end of our project.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trade sound volume for air removal... Your choice... Recently installed this unit in our remodeled kitchen. While it's appearance was attractive, the noise was outrageous... when the factory engineers fitted a larger motor (for increased CFM) they were forced to install the intakes next to, as well as close to the front wall of the unit. This causes the unit to produce an excess of noise. The next smaller model, (PM390S) the motor is turned 90 degrees and where the intake is not restricted, and is much quieter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional but initially buttons would stick The unit seems well made and is very functional. The layout of the controls are good but initially the buttons would stick. It took a while for them to work free.

  • Replace halogen bulb with led

I want to replace the halogen bulb with an led bulb. Can I do that and what is the replacement bulb?
    Asked by: Annie
Thank you for your question on the model PM500SS kitchen exhaust system. The PM500SS requires the use of Type T3, 12Volt, 20 Watt maximum Halogen bulbs with a G-4 base. We cannot recommend or suggest using any other bulbs with this unit.

How difficult is it to replace the damper?

I found my damper (Part# B08088378) in the back yard. My kitchen was professionally installed and I was wondering if it is practical for a novice like myself to reinstall it. I am not sure why it came loose, it appears undamaged.
    Asked by: TheGrand
Thank you for your question on the model PM500 kitchen exhaust system power module. The damper for the PM500 is normally installed right on top of the unit, before you install the duct work. You would need to have access to the top of the unit to reinstall it.

PM500SS: Lights not working. Fan is working.

Changed out the bulbs and the fuse. Last time you suggested changing out the transformer. How do i do that? How do i get the covers off? Thank you.
    Asked by: Steve S.
Thank you for your question on the PM500SS. To change the transformer you need to remove the filters. After the filters are out you need to remove the bottom cover by sliding the two slide latches. Once the bottom cover is removed, the transformer will be located on the right side inside your PM500SS. The transformer has a plastic cover over one end. Remove two screws holding the plastic cover. Now remove two screws one on each end of the transformer and this will allow you to remove the transformer. If you have questions please call Technical Support directly at 800-637-1453 so we can walk you through any questions you may have.
