BROAN ULTRA GREEN™ Series Fans deliver everything you wished for in a bath fan – premium ventilation to help reduce airborne pollutants, extremely quiet operation, energy efficiency, consistent power and most impressively, the fastest, easiest, most universal installation available. These fans are ideal for both spot ventilation in humid bathrooms, as well as continuous ventilation to meet various building codes and Green Building standards around the United States.

    • 50 CFM reduces humidity to quickly eliminate fogged mirrors and manage moisture in bathrooms up to 45 square feet, so your vision will always be clear and your surroundings will always be comfortable
    • ULTRASilent™ with QStream™ Sound Technology results in operation at less than 0.3 Sones – the quietest sound rating attainable -- for an environment that is so quiet, you’ll likely forget the fan is on
    • ULTRAQuick™ Installation Technology uses an exclusive telescoping mounting frame with pre-installed screws, snap-in housing, snap-in blower and an inside-out mounting duct connector that are the fastest, easiest, most universal installation
    • Retrofit installations can be done entirely from the room-side – no attic access required. This means a faster, easier installation, so you can move on to something else
    • Unique telescoping mounting frame can be placed and fastened through drywall hole because it expands from 14” to 24” and fits any type of joist, I-Joist or truss construction for a “no guesswork” installation to make the work fast and easy
    • Snap-in housing and blower further simplify installation since you can hear – and feel – when they are properly seated. Easy-to-position carriage allows housing location adjustment between joists so you can control the correct ceiling placement
    • ULTRASmart™ DC Motor & Control Technology provides energy efficiency almost 10 times greater than ENERGY STAR® requirements and maintains rated power (CFM) in nearly every installation. You have confidence you’re getting the expected performance and won’t even notice the fan usage on your utility bill
    • UL Listed for use over tubs and showers with a GFCI circuit; so you can capture the steam before it spreads throughout the room by locating your fan exactly where you need it the most
    • Compatible with Radiation Damper RDFU which helps prevent flame and heat from spreading to other areas in multi-level buildings
    • Can be used to comply with ASHRAE 62.2 and CALGreen

Rated 3 out of 5 by from May need tweaking durng install Installation for me was a bit of pain because the joists were only 15.5" apart. I wound up just simply attaching the case on one side to a joist with screws. The fan is way too powerful for a small powder room (only 18 sq ft), but unfortunately it's the smallest I could find. It also starts up strangely, with a delay of about 3 sec, which confuses some visitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XB80 Very Quiet The contractor installed this XB80 Model without any issues. He used 6 inch solid metal duct. This unit is so quiet it can barely be heard. It looks nice, and works very well. Would highly recommend to others!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product does a good job of removing steam/moisture from the bathroom I would definitely recommend this product. It efficiently removes steam and moisture from the bathroom it is less noisy than my previous, less expensive fan, but not as quiet as I expected. There is a slight delay from turning on the fan to when it actually starts up, but doesn't affect its overall performance. I had someone install this for me and he didn't seem to have any difficulty with installation. Overall a good product for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as easy to install as advertised I will bet if you had 16 inch center rafters it would be as easy as advertised. I have 20 inch center rafters and it was much easier to install in the attic. Also, I needed to purchase a 4-6 inch HVAC adapter to hook into existing 4 inch duct. Oh and by the way HVAC foil tape will not stick to the included 6 inch duct adapter. I had to use a bunch of the best duct tape from Lowes and a lot of it to ensure no leaks in the future.

    Are the motors brushless ,

Would like to use in a hobby paint booth , what type of Motor,, brushless ??
    Asked by: Mtcoop1
I'm thinking it would have to be brushless or there would be maintenance parts. It is probably induction. One thing for sure, it is quiet.

How to set height of XB50L mounting frame?

My existing 678 has a positioning feature to compensate for different ceiling thicknesses. I plan to replace the 678 with a XB50L. What do I have to do with the XB50L mounting frame in order to compensate for different ceiling thicknesses? The instructions show installing the frame even with the ceiling joists without any mention of ceiling thickness.

How is this ASHRAE 62.2 compliant if it is single speed? I'm not totally familiar with the code

    Asked by: rymcgovern
Thank you for your question on the model XB50. ASHRAE 62.2 does not require multi-speed fans. It requires a minimum of 50 cfm and 3.0 sones maximum for spot ventilation of individual bathrooms. We do offer the ASHRAE 62.2 information on the specification sheet for this model, which you can download from our website.
