  • Can this unit be used as a stand alone in a custom downdraft venting application

Due to the design of my post and beam home and custom cabinetry for the kitchen in it I can't install a standard range hood. Nor can I use a standard range with built in downdraft. So I'm going with a drop in cooktop and separate wall oven and will need to build a custom down draft vent for the cooktop. This unit looks like it will work for this but I wanted to make sure it can be used stand alone and see whether I needed to purchase any special controller for it (I was planning to use the P57W switch which appears to be meant to control this). Thank you

Thank you for the question on the model P5 internal blower. The P5 is designed to be used with select Broan power packs and inserts only. We do not recommend using it as a stand alone blower.

Is there an installation manual available to download?

We are interested in purchasing the P8 internal blower but would like to know if we could download the instructions or manual that would come with the unit so we could review and know what to expect.

Thank you for your question on the model P8 dual internal blower. The P8 is designed to be used in the RMIP series range hood insert. The only instructions that you could download would be those for the RMIP. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.

Can this be used with an existing 6" duct?

I have an existing 6" duct and the specs for this blower specify a 8" round. Is there any problem with transitioning to the 6" duct, will this effect the performance?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question on the model P8 range hood blower. The P8 requires either 3-1/4” x 14” rectangular or 8” round duct work. We do not recommend reducing the duct work any smaller than what is required. It will affect the performance and could void the warranty.
