Rated 1 out of 5 by from Motor lasted only 4 years, too noisy, NOT RECOMMNDED The motor life is extremely poor - Lasted only 4 years ! .Replacement motor costs almost half the price of the whole unit . In my old house I have a much very inexpensive model, in which the motor is almost 2 decades old !!! Too noisy Baffle filters are a mess to clean up kitchen grease. Does not easily go away - poor design in my opinion. Look for some thing else - Absolutely NOT recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. I bought this product (mine vent out ) 4 months ago. I am very satisfied with the purchase. I cook everyday and it is Asian cooking. It means lots of grease and strong smell ingredients (turmeric, cumin, onion etc). I use it in high setting, It absorbs all the grease and odor from cooking. The house feel fresh and I do not have to worry about the smell on clothes and furniture. One thing I am having problem is my gas bill. I do not know it is the product or the installation, my gas bill has doubled.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does a good job The hood is effective in keeping smoke and fumes out of the kitchen. However, the noise level is high. Also a couple of minor problems with knobs and lighting. One of the knobs ( for the light) will not stay on no matter how tight the set screw is it keeps coming off. Also tried to get the light bulbs out and the mechanism is not engineered correctly, it will simply not come out. I did call Broan and left a message but no one called back. So much for customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I was looking for a vent hood that would push air 25 feet down and out of the house. This product definitely does that at 600 cfm. It has the restaurant style filter system that makes it great for cleaning with a variable speed blower. The only issue I see is that Broan need to put some kind of damper where the fan mounts to stop the humming noise it makes at low speed. It stops if you push on the motor just right. Other than that it is a great product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blower motor went out after a year and half We bought a new home with this range hood installed and we loved it at first. Then, after about a year and a half, it starting making some odd noises. The blower motor had died. I check the warranty, and it was only 1 year. The replacement motor? Over $400. For the price of this hood, I would expect it to last at least 10 years. Very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built, good value All exposed surfaces are nicely finished. No sharp edges, and I appreciate the rounded profile that spreads the force when I bump my head on it. The blower very effectively captures the smoke and odor from stir-frying at 22,000 BTUs. As expected, there is a lot of air noise at 600 cfm as the air rushes through the baffles and into the internal blower. At low speed, the predominant noise is a hum (almost a buzz) from the variable-frequency motor and controller. Much quieter than at high speed, but still annoying over time, say when simmering a soup. The controls are the weakest point. A three-position rocker switch for the lights would make a lot more sense than a three position knob that I often twist the wrong direction. Also, the low setting is pretty much useless with LED lights because they flicker very perceptibly. Something more sophisticated than a diode to chop out half of the AC cycle would be appreciated. Both the light and fan knobs feel a little cheap. Customer service was very responsive when I had questions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent hood for large range This hood draws well even when using a Wolf range with a grill. The hood is very loud at the highest setting, but a variable speed control allows you to set the draw at the lowest effective level. The two level lights illuminate the range top well. Simple clean design esthetic.

    Duct size

Can I "transition" the duct to a 6" or 8" from the 10", or does it have to be a 10" all the way through?
    Asked by: TVC
I vertically ducted my hood from the 3 1/4" x 10" to a 7" round duct. 7" to 8" is the recommended size duct if you are converting it to round.

I just had the e6442 hood installed and would like to know if LED bulbs can be substituted for the halogens.

    Asked by: Mary
Thank you for your question on the model E6442SS range hood. The E6442SS is designed to use 50 watt maximum, GU10 base, halogen lamps only. We cannot recommend using any other lamps with this unit.

Can you put the baffle filters in the dishwasher?

    Asked by: srm
Thank you for your question on the model E6442SS range hood. Baffle filters are dishwasher safe. Allow filters to dry completely before reinstalling them in the hood. Clean all-metal filters in the dishwasher using a non-phosphate detergent. Discoloration of the filter may occur if using phosphate detergent or as a result of local water conditions—but this will not affect filter performance. This discoloration is not covered by the warranty.

    Max height from cook top

I would like to,know the maximum height I can place this hood unit from a high output cook stove. I'm 6'2" and want clearance.
    Asked by: Mike
Thank you for your question on the model E6442SS Range Hood. For best capture of cooking impurities, the bottom of the hood should be at a minimum of 24" and at a maximum of 30" above the cooking surface.
