Replaced very old GE hood
Broan is no better than old one was. Shorter in back (have to add ceramic tiles), just as noisy, only one setting for light. The only thing better is the flat filter is easier to take out and clean than the old dome shaped one was. There is a ledge below that accumulates grease- I guess that is better than running down back of range. Air blows out towards room? It was only $79 or close to that - guess you get what you pay for!

COULD BE IMPROVED
A little noisy. My smoke alarm 2 rooms away goes off, so it is really not as effective as the range hood I bought almost 40 years ago. The filter gets dirty easily and I don't like the fact that it is not washable. I was told by the salesman that I could not get a more powerful fan or filter. I wouldn't mind paying more for a better product, one that filters smoke and grease effectively, has a washable filter, and is a little quieter.

I had two choices from the builder's show room to fill the space above my stove in my new build house - the vent hood and a small microwave. Since I didn't want a microwave above the stove, I chose the hood. It has a light and a toggle switch to turn the fan from off to either low or high. The light serves for direct lighting when cooking and for evening when I want some light in kitchen but not the overhead lights. The fan is noisy but then I don't use it often, but will eliminate smells I don't want . The vent hood serves my purpose.

It works well
This fan and light replaced one that was not vented outdoors. So this is a huge improvement over our previous exhaust fan.
It looks good and works well, does its job. It is also much quite than our previous fan which I appreciate.

The range hood fan is so noisy that it is impossible to listen to music while cooking. Is it supposed to be so noisy?
The range hood works fairly well -- for the price it's about what I expected. However, the noise is intense. My house is small, with an open floor plan, so the living room is very near the kitchen. I could not hear what my husband was saying to me. Also, there are speakers on top of the kitchen cabinets but I cannot hear music while I'm cooking.
Thank you for the question on the model F403623 range hood. This range hood will have some noise associated with it. The fan produces 160CFM at between 6-6.5 sones depending on how the range hood is ducted. If you think the fan is unusually loud, please contact our Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453.

Which model would replace the old model 76000G (36")? Would that be the F403623 in black? Black; and a light, are both necessary.
Thank you for your question on the F403623 and the 76,000 series range hoods. The 76,000 series was an intermediate model range hood. The closest replacements for the 76,000 series would be the QT20,000 series or the 46,000 series. These would have the same dimensions and would be comparable with cfm and sone ratings. The F403623 would be the same size range hood, but the cfm's would be slightly lower being that this is an economy model. If you have further questions, please contact our Technical Support team directly at 800-637-1453.

I have it vented up to my attic. It also has air coming out the front small vent. Is this normal?
Thank you for your question on the model F403623 range hood. The F403623 can be installed as ducted or ductless. There is a louver on the front of the hood that would need to be removed when the unit is used ductless. When it is ducted, the louver should remain in place. It sounds like you just need to replace the louver. We do also recommend that when using a fan in a ducted application, that the ductwork terminate to the outside of the home, not into the attic. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.
