Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unfortunate!!! Absolutely LOVE this 6201 heater. Have four (4) of them. However the on/off switch fail after a while. Called customer service and they do not sell parts for them. Can see why it has been discontnued, unfortnately. Craig

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great size and warmth for a small outside area We are using a small space heater for an RV or garage and this size is perfect, plus it has a metal box. The product has been running for about a total of 12 hours, yet the bad chemical odor won't go away, so we cannot use it in an enclosed space as was intended. The value would be good if the odor didn't exist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Furnace failed in 20 degree temps We live in Central Wisconsin. On Sunday, Feb 14th, our furnace failed. Our HVAC provider left three of these heaters with us to help keep the house warm until a new furnace could be installed. Our 1400 sq. ft., 2 story home only dropped to 64 degrees (from 72) by the next morning, and we only ran one of these heaters on the first floor overnight. The size and format are much better than some of the ceramic heaters I've seen at larger retailers (plastic, odd shaped housings). Absolutely recommend!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm! Not nearly as efficient as described or rated. Air is "warm", and unless you stand directly in front of the unit, you will not gain much benefit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Five stars except it is noisy. Best small heater I have because it blows more hot air to where you want. Would have given it 5 stars except it was noisy. I took it apart and found a a few things that were rubbing each other and put foam weather stripping on the feet to keep from transferring the noise. Much quieter now! Dont even use the other brands I own, just the Broan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent space heater for a small to medium size area. Very well constructed and a great value for the money. The space heater had been used last winter and preformed flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Broan heater 6201 recently had to move into a 5th wheel for the winter time. SInce the unit runs mostly on propane, I was having to have the 5-7gallon tanks refilled evey couple of weeks. I hated having to do that so I sought out a portable heater for inside. This little model may fool u by its small size but its wonderful. I havent used it over night as yet because I dont know if it is eqiupt for leaving running over night or unattended. If any one can tell i can that would be great to save on the propane.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not so good thermostat I use one in my RV and, yes, it's a good little heat producer....but the thermostat leaves one lacking. I'm putting a line-voltage thermostat in the power cord to fix it. One problem is that the thermostat sticks. Another problem might be that the thermostat is too close to the heating element. I also have an older version of this same heater and it suffers the same delemma.

  • Is this heater quiet? Is it designed so a person can sleep with it nearby?

I'm looking for a small, quiet, energy efficient heater that puts out good heat for use in an RV. Is this that heater?

I use this heater in my 24 foot RV and it works great. The temp outside has to get below 30 deg before the propane furnace goes on. quieter then the furnace blower. buy this heater!

    wont work

My heater was on for a little bit lastnight and then just shut off and shows a caution light. Now whenever i turn it on all i get is a caution light. How do i fix this?

You need to pull the Plug and Wait for 10 Min. Its a Safety issue they design them so they wont get sued if it overheats and catches fore. A tradeoff for avoiding huge settlements in law suits ..

Are there vents in the rear of the 6201. From the rear, how close to a wall can this unit be placed?

    Asked by: HardWorkinMan
Thank you for your question on the model 6201 portable heater. Although the main make up air vents are on the sides, it should be safe if you keep combustible materials a foot away from the back of the unit.

Is any non-stick coating such as Teflon used on any parts?

We have pet birds and they are very sensitive to the particles released in the air when non-stick coatings such as Teflon are heated up. Typically ceramic heaters are safe, but I just wanted to verify that there wasn't some kind of coating on the grills to help keep dust from sticking or something like that. Any assistance in this matter is appreciated.
