  • This high capacity wall heater is powerful and rugged enough for commercial lobbies, entryways, vestibules, yet sufficiently attractive to fit in with residential decors. Factory wired at 2,000W, at 240V AC, it can be easily converted to 1,000W at 240V AC for added versatility.

    • Heavy-duty, 18-gauge steel grille has downflow louvers to direct heat gently toward the floor and a one-piece design with baked enamel finish for durability
    • Adjustable, front-mounted, heavy-duty thermostat offers a simple way to control the level of heat and thermostat security cover prevents tampering
    • Optional line-voltage wall thermostat (Model 86W sold separately) or timer (Models 59V or 59W 60-minute timer or Models 61V or 61W 15-minute timer) are available for a convenient way to control the heater
    • Built-in fan-delay allows the heating element to warm up before the fan starts to prevent cold air delivery and then keeps the fan running as the heating element cools down to maximize heat delivery and energy savings
    • Permanently lubricated motor, heavy-duty sheathed element with steel plate fins, and a manual reset thermal overload protector combine to ensure reliable operation and years of trouble free heating. UL Listed for safety.
    • Heater may be recessed or surface-mounted, depending on your application (surface mounting requires Model 85 surface mount kit)
    • Wall heaters are intended to provide supplemental heat from a wall location and not to take the place of a primary heat source
  • How To Size a Room – Quick Calculation

Moderate Climate (with 8’ ceiling and adequate insulation)
    • Square Footage x 10 = Watts required
    • Example: 100 Sq. Ft. x 10 = 1,000 Watts

    • Colder Climate (with 8’ ceiling and adequate insulation)
    • Square Footage x 15 = Watts required
    • Example: 100 Sq. Ft. x 15 = 1,500 Watts

    How To Figure BTU’s

    • Wattage x 3.413 (constant) = BTU’s (British Thermal Unit)
    • Example: 1,000 Watts x 3.413 = 3,413 BTU’s
    • Example: 4,000 Watts x 3.413 = 13,652 BTU’s
    • One BTU is the quantity of heat needed to raise one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit

    How To Figure Amperage

    • Watts/Voltage = Amperage
    • Example: 1,000 Watts / 120 Volts = 8.33 Amps

    How To Figure Voltage

    • Watts/Amperage = Voltage
    • Example: 1,000 Watts / 8.33 Amps = 120 Volts

    How To Figure Wattage

    • Voltage x Amperage = Watts
    • Example: 120 Volts x 8.33 Amps = 1,000 Watts
    • Example: 240 Volts x 4.16 Amps = 1,000 Watts

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it We installed one of these units in a home we built 6 years ago in a bathroom. Worked great, and put out a LOT of heat. The builder installed it, so I'm not sure how easy it was to install. The only complaint is the dial or "thermostat" doesn't have the actual temperature on the dial. It just reads 1-10, so if you're looking to set it at an exact temperature, you're out of luck. We didn't need to, so it didn't really bother me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Heater, Bad Paint I purchased a Broan 198 heater about 2 years ago and installed it in a small room over my garage. The room is normally not heated, but when I am going to do some hobby work, I turn on the heater. It works very well at quickly heating up the space, and the fan if fairly quiet. My only disappointment is that the paint is peeling off of the grill (see attached pictures). If it is caused from the heat, I would think that it should have been heat proof paint.

  • If we put this in an exterior wall can we put insulation behind it?

    Asked by: home project
Thank you for your question on the model 192 high-capacity wall heater. If you have standard 2” x 4” walls, there would not be room for insulation behind it. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.

    how noisy is this unit?

I would like to know what noise level this unit operates at.
    Asked by: Niaz
Thank you for your question on the model 192 wall heater. The 192 wall heater is a fairly quiet unit, but we do not have a sound rating on it. The only products that we supply sound ratings for are the fans that exhaust outside.

How does the reset button work?

Unit is not working. Found reset button. Does not push in-how should the reset be activated?
    Asked by: Denny
Thank you for your question on the model 192 wall heater. The reset button is a thermal overload breaker. If it senses too much heat it will open and shut off the heater. If the button does not push in, it would appear that it is not the problem with your unit. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for assistance.

What is the proper wiring and breaker size.

My installer says the model 192 needs 12 gauge wire and a 20 amp breaker. The master electrician I consulted says that a 15 amp breaker and 14 gauge wire is adequate for a 240 volt 2000 watt dedicated circuit installation. What is the recommended breaker amperage and wire gauge for a dedicated circuit installation for a 240 volt 2000 watt configuration model 192 high capacity wall heater.
    Asked by: Tomtech
Thank you for your question regarding the 192 wall heater. The 192 will only draw 8.3 Amps so a 15 Amp dedicated circuit should be sufficient. 14 gauge wiring should also be sufficient but it wouldn’t hurt to use 12 gauge wiring. It might be best to check with your local code to verify proper wiring. You can also contact Technical Support at 1-800-637-1453 for further assistance.
