Very quiet on low setting, not that noisy on high setting. Only negative is that LED light bulbs don't fit as well has halogen bulbs.

This fan is great
This is my first ever over stove fan vented to the outside and I love it. It performs very well, removing smoke, odor and heat from cooking on our gas stove. The light also works very well, providing excellent lighting for cooking. All in all an excellent addition to our new kitchen.

Sleek & attractive
Great looking range hood we bought to replace a 16 year old still working unit. The Broan QP130WW has clean cut lines & looks very stylish. Ours is vented to the outside. There are 2 speeds for the fan, which is quite quiet even on high speed, as well as having a very good suction. This unit has 4 lights, which must use halogen bulbs, which throw out quite a bit of heat, & the bulbs themselves get very hot. (We tried the corresponding LED, however, when on low beam, the lights blinked like strobe lights. On high it seemed fine & really nice & bright, & I was fine to use only the bright setting, but my husband was not. Broan advised they are working toward the use of LEDs.) A friend who is a certified electrician & my husband installed it. After purchasing our 3rd set of bulbs: halogen, LED & back to halogen, we now still have to take off the top sides & adjust the bulbs, as they are not flush. If not for the bulbs/lighting, I'd probably have given it a 5 star rating.

Fan works efficiently,but...
Well, after reading all these reviews, I see, that I am not alone, again, with the switches. Although, I have owned my fan for almost three years, I still believe, that only getting 3 years from the switch is horrible. the fan works on low, but all of a sudden, it won't move to high, faulty switch I suppose.
So if I purchase a new switch for $20, and that's not the problem, will my money be refunded?

Fan Switch Failed
Nice looking hood and relatively easy to install (with two people). The hood worked well for a little over a year, but then fan switch started acting up. Now if the fan is switched on it is very difficult to get the rocker switch to turn the fan back off. Other reviews indicated similar issues with the fan & light rocker switches. It is fairly expensive to buy replacement switches for this unit. If the switches were extensively used or in a location where physical abuse would occur, I could understand the failures, but this appears to be just due to sub-standard components being used. Very dissappointing!

Magnifique! Holds up to the toughest odors and smoke.
If a non-vented hood can hold up to the French dish "steak au poivre," beef steak encrusted in peppercorns and cooked on high heat in a cast iron skillet, it can do anything.
Happy to report, it does. The "pepper smoke" that is given off during cooking is almost suffocating if you inhale it. But even with a non-vented hood, the Allure hood took care of it. I was astonished and very pleased as I never cook this meal with a non-vented hood.
From my experience, the Allure is the best non-vented out there. Costly, but much more than the noisy useless hoods that most non-vented kitchens have.

Looks Upscale - BUT Switches broke soon after install ! :-(
Purchased this unit during a full kitchen remodel. I purchased after my daughter recommended the BROAN brand. Unit looks awesome with the rest of my stainless steel kitchen and until the fatal flaw issue came up, I had been very happy with it.
The Fatal Flaw is the switch Broan elected to put in the unit! The unit is useless because neither the light nor fan is operable!
Sadly, not long after install, the switches for the fan and light both broke! I called the installer and he saw that the switches are made of PLASTIC. VERY DISAPPOINTED that a Broan product that had so much going for it would have plastic in such an important aspect of the product.
In reading the reviews, I'm very surprised to see this same issue dates back to 2013 and doesn't appear that Broan engineers intend to fix it. This feels like they know it is an issue, and are choosing not to deal with it. Sad. For this reason, I would not recommend this Broan product until this flaw is eliminated.
I ordered part 9701-7730 today for $30 (part+Shipping+tax). I also have to pay someone to install it.
I hope that Broan reads this and would be willing to credit me $30 for the part. I should not have to pay for part that I believe has a known defect.

Cheap light and fan switches
Disappointed in the switches. Light switch and mounting broke after three months. Mounting plate plastic is too thin.

Can the QP130 be installed non-ducted? Do I need to order a recirculating kit or different filters?
Yes, it can be installed in a non-ducted fashion. The design has a small sheet metal strip in the front that slides to a side (need to remove a screw or two) and allows the fan to vent back into the room. Please do not remove any knock out sheet metal strips on the main unit....other than the one you require for your electrical connection.

The light switch on my Evolution 1, QP 130, QP 136 series range hood has failed. I plan to do the replacement myself. How do I do it?
I plan to replace my defective light switch with the Broan replacement part that I have ordered through my dealer. How to I remove the original switch. I have the cover plate on the back side removed and have access to the switch, but I can't see if it is pressed on or if it has a screw and nut assembly. Please help and also give any other information on this task that you can. Thanks
Peel off the label on the front of the switch and you'll see the mounting screws.
