Rated 1 out of 5 by DND1937 Changed my concept of the Broan Brand
I have serial #31M-00037. The unit had to go to the shop on the 11th month of the warranty, which is 1 year. The problem was the belt. They replaced the belt under warranty along with the labor. It sounded different when it was returned to me when it ran. Now 4 months after it was repaired the belt went out again. We had a Kitchen Aid for over 15 years & had periodic problems with it & I was always able to repair the unit & keep it running until parts were not available anymore. I wish now I would have gone with the same brand instead of being concerned over the compact ratio & motor HP. Take my advice, do not buy the 15SS, or its similar models.

As a building contractor I've never with an appliance and getting it repaired right. Parts hard to get no local service techs, and the one I took it too in Elk Grove it did the same thing 3 months later.

disappointed. not much compression at all. I have owned compactors a third of the price that has done a much better job.

My wife and I love the Braun trash compactor. We chose to get the model that let us put a matching cabinet panel on it and the small silver bar at the top with the power switch is not noticeable at all. In fact we always have to tell guest where the garbage is. The one drawback is that you can open the door when the compactor is down so I often have to clean trash from the top of the compactor after guests has been here...especially grandchildren!

Rated 1 out of 5 by nadagreatcompactor Broan 15ss is not as robust as previous Broan trash compactors
We needed to replace an older Broan trash compactor that died after 15 years. My disappointments in current design:
1) had to reconfigure kitchen cabinets since the new units are several inches wider
2) the trash compactor bags are larger, and not available locally (we've checked Costco & Target so far)
3) to access old compactor you simply pulled the drawer out. this unit you must first open the cabinet door, then pull out the drawer. very awkward
4) the cabinet door has been pulled off by my daughter already. very flimsy.
5) the compacting arm does not compact as much as old model. the bag always looks "full"
6) the best I can say is that this unit is quiet

Good features works well the odor disc works really helps
only drawback you must first open the door then pull out the container
to throw in garbage. Should be some kind of foot release so that both
hands can be used while working

Rated 1 out of 5 by DKTX Very dissapointing product--would not recommend!
I had purchased this trash compact her to match the other appliances I bought wall upgrading my kitchen. I think it is a very poor design. You have to use your hands to open the door and to slide out the trash can. Furthermore you have to push the button continuously for the trash compacter to complete its cycle. This can be up to 30 seconds of standing beside the machine depressing the button. Finally the compacter trash can is not the standard size, so you have to buy Broan trash bags which are rather expensive compared to the standard trash compact bags.

We purchased a house that had a Broan Compactor 23 years ago.
That Compactor never gave us any trouble in the 10 years we were in that house.
We moved to another state and in 2008 had a new home built.
We decided to purchase a Kitchenaid Compactor because it had a foot pedal and it matched our refrigerator. That compactor started giving us trouble in 2011 and eventually broke down completely this year 6/2013.
I was delighted to find a Broan to purchase and install ourselves 8/2013.
This product is far superior in performance and quality.
The Kitchenaid was tinny sounding and can't compare to the quality of the Broan.
Thanks for making such a superior product.
