    Answer:
The 634M is the same roof cap except for use with a 6” round duct. You may want to consider the 634M if you haven’t already made your purchase. The 634 is for 3 ¼” x 10” or up to 8” round duct size. If you have the 634, the ducting can be installed so the pipe is just on the inside of the roof cap. You can put a foam seal around the pipe and the cap for the difference in size. Please contact technical support at 1-800-637-1453 for more assistance.

Thank you for your question on the model 634 roof cap. From your description it sounds like the damper may be rattling. You can check to make sure the damper is completely closing when the fan is off. For further assistance please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453.

I need a cap for the exhaust of a range hood, to mount on a 12:12 pitch metal roof which has 3/4"-high ridges 9 inches center to center. There would therefore be one or two roofing ridges under the lower, overhanging side of the cap, depending upon where it is positioned; this clearance is not shown on the data sheet but it appears to be greater than 3/4". Is the 634 the best product for this situation? It appears to get high approval ratings. Ducting will probably be 3-1/4 x 10 almost to the cap, with a 6" dia takeoff through the roof. I wouldn't use the 634M here because the duct may miss rafters more easily if it is a little off-center to the cap. Thanks!
