Rated 2 out of 5 by It is 2014 and this fixture doesn't know it. It has been known for a long time that 100W incandescent bulbs were going the way of the dodo bird. Broan decided that it should still design products for 100W incandescent bulbs and nothing else. This fixture cannot handle a 100W-equivalent CFL or 100W-equivalent LED. They are too big for the fixture. These type of bulbs touch the nightlight - something that is probably not a good safe. Trying a 100W-equivalent halogen incandescent would probably melt the plastic. A 75W-equivalent LED fits, but, it is less light than a 100W bulb. I feel cheated by Broan since I cannot use the fixture with its full capability. If Broan wants to sell this fixture, it should include a lifetime supply of 100W bulbs. The 4W nightlight is just barely adequate once the plastic cover is put in place. The fan sound is acceptable and not too noisy. June 6, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good product, but... Unfortunately, after nearly 3 years, it's not working too well..I hope I won't have to replace it but I have a funny feeling that I might have to! I sure was hoping it would have lasted longer than this! The lighting is very good and up until recently, the fan worked well (because of flat paint and not semi-gloss paint being on my walls, I absolutely NEED a good fan to keep the walls from "sweating"). My bathroom fan gets used every day because of the long, hot showers easily fogging it up, then causing a lot of condensation on my walls. I can only give this product 3 stars now because of my current issues. March 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by works great super quite and long lasting had it install for over 5 years March 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quite smooth performace. I enjoy my new fan every morning, quite running, and the 4" duct moves the air. Also enjoy the regular and a night night feature. I'am using LED bulbs in both. August 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice volume, fairly quiet Not as quiet as i would like because its near our kitchen, but compared to my other bathroom, it's a mouse! February 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great fan, very Quiet! Fan was fairly easy to install. Is very quiet and worth the extra money to get a quiet unit that still moves a good amount of air! February 20, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fan light unit held up well The fan / light unit has worked very well these past four years since installation with the only maintenance required cleaning dust from the grill. However, since it is only an 80 CFM unit we do get a fog build up in the bathroom while showering. I would recommend a larger CFM unit. February 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is very quiet Runs very quiet and removes moisture from shower really good. Excellent quality. February 20, 2013

This fixture cannot handle a 100W-equivalent CFL. The CFL touches the nightlight. BAD DESIGN!!!!!! Broan, knowing that 100W bulbs are going the way of the dodo bird, should have taken CFLs into consideration.

Now, can I use a 100W-equivalent halogen bulb? I haven't seen any 100W LED bulbs around that are the same size as incandescent bulbs.

Also, can I use a 7W nightlight? The specs sow 4W bulbs, which are nearly useless as a nightlight once the plastic cover is installed.

Thank you for your question on the model QTR080L exhaust fan/light/night light. At this time the only bulbs that we can recommend for the QTR080L would be the ones listed in the installation instructions (a 100 watt incandescent bulb and a 4 watt night light bulb). Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.

Insulation of fan to prevent ice dams

I think head is escaping from the fan assembly and exhaust pipe creating ice dams and water leakage. Do you have any thoughts on this? Any way to insulate fan and pipe? The exhaust pipe is very short and exhausts through the roof.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model QTR110L exhaust fan/light. It is a good idea to insulate the ducting and to have a back draft damper on the outside wall or roof cap. If there is leakage coming into the attic or house from the outside, there would appear that there is a problem with the installation. You should have the installation checked.
