The fan plug is hot wired. Is there any way to control the fan speed?. Is there a variable switch or a two speed switch for this model. Thanks

Thank you for your question on the Broan 509S utility ventilator. The fan blade is machine installed so you will have to pull very hard to remove it. If you need more assistance, please contact Technical Support at 800-637-1453.

    Electrical wall switch

I am replacing an older fan, Franklin Electric 86A. The existing duct to the outside is 8 3/8-8 1/2" and is still good. The old fan is operated with a wall switch. The motor is connected to electrical with a plug receptacle in the duct. The electrical still works. Does this model 509 or 509S have a plug option in the duct, or does it have to be wired by an electrician?

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 509S through the wall exhaust fan. The motor inside the 509 and 509S has a plug on the end of the power cord so it can be plugged into a socket inside the duct.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question. The damper assembly on model 508 is spring loaded. It opens with air flow and the spring pulls it tight to close.
