Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works excellent. The fan unit was easy to install and hook-up. Works excellent and is quiet to an extent. Fit our purpose well and looks good too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Need 1 Extra Hand But It Looks Good I purchased this hood to replace a Nutone one, which we did on our remake of the kitchen. This one was chosen because of the sleek design and the fact that more is covered to easy of cleaning. I did install this myself, but it would have been a little easier if I had 1 extra hand. No template was included to locate the screws, so it had to be held in place and marked. I also added large flat washers to the 4 overhead screws for better strength.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The blinking light is confusing. The blinking light that blinks to let you know that you need to clean the filters was confusing until you read the manual after it starts blinking. . Thought it was broken at first...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new range hood I recently purchased this under cabinet range hood when I purchased a new cooking stove and it looks very nice in my kitchen. The two lights, one on each side, put out enough light when I am cooking or early mornings when I don't want too much light in the kitchen while preparing other breakfast items in the area of the light. You can barely hear the fan running, even on high speed. The buttons you push for the light and fan are very easy to operate and light up when touched to let you know they are on. Push the light button once for a low light, which I feel is generally enough light to see what is cooking, or push twice for a brighter light. Then one touch and the light is off. Same with the fan button. One touch for low speed, two for higher speed, and then one to turn fan off. Love the design and features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very stylish with excellent and easy to use lighting and fan features Fan has two speeds and is quiet at each level. The two lights need to be purchased separately, but when installed they give excellent coverage. Both fan and lights work by push buttons which stay lighted and the lights have a high and low setting. The dark finish is smooth and easy to clean. Two aluminum filters come with the unit and are easy snap in/out. I purchased two more aluminum filters so I have one set when I dish wash the current one. I was very pleased with the ease of installation though I did not do it myself. I would definitely recommend this unit. NOTE: there is one higher level unit which has one more fan speed. The unit I purchased is second from the top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice of range hoods We recently replaced our old slide in electric range with a new gas range. We also replaced the old range hood which was noisy and had no draft damper. While shopping for the range we also looked at range hoods. This unit struck my wife as soon as she saw it, I also was impressed by it's looks. After close scrutiny and advice from the sales associate we opted to purchase it. It WAS a VERY wise choice. It looks great in it's location. The dual lights with a 2 stage brightness is great. The fan is very quiet. And to date we have not experienced the problems stated in other reviews. We opted to have it professionally installed to save us from unnecessary frustrations. The installers did not have any difficulty with the installation

Rated 3 out of 5 by from my Mistake I did not read reviews before purchasing (my mistake) The instructions do not tell you that you do need to remove lighting panel to change the venting from internal to external. Not a big deal, just a pain in the rear. I have not experienced the self activation of fan and/or light yet. Hopefully that will not happen. The external venting damper (flap) or moving panel will go beyond center when the fan is turned on and will not close on it's on from gravity. I had to remove the hood and then remove the damper unit and modify the damper by adding an additional stop for the (flap) or moving panel so it would not go beyond center and would close on it's own after the fan was shut off. For the added cost over the economy units I expected better quality and engineering.

  • Why does the light and/or fan come on without being touched?

I installed this product early Dec 2013 and ever since I have noticed that occasionally either the light or fan or both would be on in the morning, but never during the day. I have seen only one response where Broan has indicated it is an electrical problem. Should we all assume it is an electrical problem and what do we do about it. Can you please provide an answer for all of us reporting this problem. I don't think I can return this to Lowes now that it has been 3.5 months. Any response besides, contact our Product Technical support would be great.

Hate to say this but call tech support as this is an easy fix most likely some type of interference with control module. They will ship it to you at no charge and is easy to install. Took five minutes total and that is with installing new control module. Hope this helps! 800-637-1453

We just installed this product this weekend. It turns its own light on... Is this a feature that wasn't described on the box/manual?

Is there a way to turn this feature off? I hate to have to return it, but don't really wish to turn it off manually several times a day.

It's possible the capacitance switches, usually part of a chip, are sensitive to power quality issues in your house's power line. My Broan CJD130SS does the same thing. An electrician can install a manual switch between your unit and the power source.

The blower and light comes on by itself. How do we fix this?

We have tile around it, so it is not easy to take out.
    Asked by: Patty57
Patty, I just landed on this website. I have a Braun range hood that exhibits the same symptoms you and four others describe. Tomorrow I will read my manual to see how much current it draws. Since mine is ducted to the roof I don't think in cool San Francisco this would present a fire hazard (but I'm not an HVAC or fire scientist), but I will check with my Fire Department. An electric guy, I am, and I'll find the current specification and measure it. Ostensibly I don't think it presents a significant enough electrical load if there is an overcurrent protection devices (circuit breaker), but with the circuitry and wiring somewhat "embedded" in the wall or tile -- AND depending on a homeowner's adeptness at installation, who knows?

The blue light on the hood is flashing, what is causing this

    Asked by: Jane
I'm guessing it may be a poor connection between your hood and the powerline. However many people are experiencing units that randomly turn on by themselves and stay on, which may be attributed to overly sensitive capacitance switches that power the lamps and fan.
