  • 639 is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made but duct too short Nice to find made in the USA quality. Duct is too short for 2x6 walls so plan on buying an extension piece of ducting if you have the bigger studs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wrong Picture This Broan wall vent is a 3.5x10 rectangular wall vent, painted black. That is the product I needed and I cross referenced the part number with Broan literature to be sure I bought the right thing. The website has the wrong picture, but the right part description. The product is good. The damper leaks a bit, but I did not expect better at this price.

  • wind noise?

This wall cap works well but is there any way to keep the wind from rattling it? Thanks
    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question on the model 639 wall cap. The 639 has a spring operated damper and normally would not rattle in the wind. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for assistance.

How does the wall cap connect to the damper assembly of the microwave?

Are the inside dimensions of the wall cap slightly bigger than the outside dimensions of the damper assembly and does it therefore slide over the damper assembly? Or does it simply bump up to the damper assembly? In either case there would not be an airtight seal between the damper assembly of the microwave and the wall cap and therefore part of the exhaust air of the microwave would escape into the wall as opposed to flow out through the wall cap, correct?

Thank you for your question on the model 639 wall cap. We would recommend when attaching duct work to this wall cap that you tape all ductwork joints with duct tape to prevent air and water leaks. The duct work is pushed through the wall after it is connected to the wall cap, and the goal is to have the duct work slide over the duct connector collar on your ventilation system. If you have further questions, please contact our Technical Support team directly at 800-637-1453.

Why is this only available in black? I have a light tan house with white trim. Black sticks out like a big ugly sore thumb.

I supposed I could spray paint it but that's another step. I can't believe anyone would want black.

Thank you for your question on the model 639 wall cap. The decision to make the 639 in black is a marketing decision. We do have a model 649 that has the same features as the 639 but has a natural aluminum finish.
