Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly made junk Chain broke off the flap after a couple weeks and I had to reattach it. After a few months it stopped opening up right away, due to the spring not being strong enough I suspect. It now takes a few minutes of running before it swings open. Have also had the chain break a couple of times over the first two years. I would rather pay twice as much and not waste a bunch of time dealing with this junk. How could the previous fan make it 60 years, and this one is ready to tear out after a couple years?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exhaust fan for work shop I installed this in an old basement window opening, it took a little framing to install but overall it went in really easy. My initial thought is, it is what I was looking for. Once I had it installed, I turned it on, and to me it is quiet, I lit a match and it seems to pull and move the air. I would recommend to others, my room size is about 200 square feet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful Exhaust fan My Cigar Lounge exhaust fan. Installed this fan through a sliding window, built a wooden frame box for the fan since I didn’t want to cut open my drywall. I bypass the switch to always on and controlled by a outlet switch with a wireless remote. Place a screen to prevent bugs from coming in since damper is always open, closed with pull chain if bad weather occurs. Cigar smoke is cleared quickly. Only issue it is noisy. Thank You Broan for a excellent product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is poorly designed Bought this for my 81 year old mother; she used it 3 times and the pull chain broke. Had to flip the breaker to stop the fan from operating and tape something over the opening as we could no longer close the flap. Removed and inspected fan - the ball chain is secured by a flimsy piece of metal that snapped in half - see no way to repair this so will have to modify - seriously? This is on a second floor so have to borrow a ladder to fix a fan we have owned for less than 45 days and used thrice - so not worth it. Very, very disappointed at this shoddy design and workmanship.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed. Had an upstairs bathroom,in a 150 year old house, with a mold problem. This easy to install fan.was just what I needed. It has solved my problem, with just a little basic work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay purchase The fan for the most part is okay but the clip that holds the chain to the door is flimsy or weak and after using it for only a few times the clip that holds the chain broke. I redesigned the clip that holds the chain to one that is more sturdy and it has been working fine so far.

Can I get this same fan but with hard wiring and a speed control?

    Asked by: Rick
Thank you for your question on the model 507 chain operated through the wall fan. There is a similar fan that has a little less CFM, model 509 is switch controlled and can use a solid state speed control to adjust the speed of the fan. You can download the spec sheet and installation instructions from our web site.

I have a fan that is very similar to this but it is about 40 years old. I cannot find a model number anywhere on it.

I need a new J box cover and switch lever. It is the same idea as this one but the lever is longer and mounted to the side. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for your question on through the wall exhaust fans. Although through the wall fans are very similar to each other, the internal parts would not particularly be interchangeable. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for assistance.

507 wall fan that will not turn on

we have a 507 wall fan that will not work. It would run at lower speeds intermittently and then return to high speed all on its own for a few days. Now it won't turn on at all. I have used a multimeter to ensure that there is electric power at the plug and it reads 117.8 volts. Therefore, I'm assuming that the issue must be the switch or the motor. The switch does not seem to click or go all the way up once the switch trigger is released out of the way by the chain. Could you please advise on what to do next to pinpoint the problem?
