Rated 3 out of 5 by from White grille turned yellow The product has worked satisfactorily; however, after a few years with normal cleaning, the 'white' plastic grille has turned an ugly yellow. I called Broan to get a quote on a replacement part... the nice lady in customer service, Terry, quoted me nearly $30 plus shipping.. It just seems like too much money...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New fan sold with defective heater fan element Bought a new model 655 to replace an old model 655. Switched out the new for the old components - and the heater didn't work. Using a volt meter narrowed it down to a defective thermal cutoff/fuse. Fortunately I was able to take the part from the old heater and it worked - however who knows how long it will last. Installed this at my in laws home, a 5 hour drive from where I live, so leaving them with a non-functioning heater was not an option. Test the parts of the bath fan before installing to make sure everything works.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy and heat does not work very well Bought this to replace an older model with heat that had stopped working. The fan is much noisier installed than it was at the store and the heater is extremely loud. The heat output is okay but wasn't what I had expected. The older version directed the heat better so one could stand under it and feel the heat/dry off. In this model/version the hot air is more diffused. The fan and the light work well. If you're just looking for a way to heat your bathroom and don't mind the noise, this is a good buy. If you want something quiet and with more directed heat, I'd suggest passing this one by.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product. Particularly like the feature of being able to have the light, heater, and vent fan on their own wall switch. Very reliable product. Only replaced mine because it started to rattle, yet each feature continued to run as they should.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Operates as expected We remodeled our bathroom and decided to replace our 33 year old bathroom exhaust fan/heater/light combination as part of the remodel project. Honestly, it was not easy to find a combination unit that performed all three functions - fan, light, and heater. This unit was one of the few available. It functions as we would expect it to function. It is much quieter than our 33 year old fan. The heat it puts out warms the bathroom quickly. Our only complaint would be that the flipper built into the unit that connects to the roof exhaust vent makes a 'click, click' noise when the wind blows. This was quite annoying to hear when trying to get to sleep. We were able to fix that by installing a second flipper in the exhaust line that was closer to the roof. All said - we are very satisfied with this unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PRETTY GOOD HEAT, VENT AND LIGHTING ESPECIALLY WITH AND LED BULB INSTALLED IN IT. THIS UNIT DOES A VERY GOOD JOB IN ALL ASPECTS. THE ONLY THING I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT IT IS HOW LOUD IT IS WHEN IT IS IN THE HEATING MODE. STARTING UP IT RATTLES THE PICTURES ON THE WALLS.... IMAGINE HAVING A CROP DUSTER CRANKING UP IT'S ENGINE IN YOUR BATHROOM!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Drop-in Replacement This product was selected because it was an identical replacement for my old heater/fan/light. That meant that I could use the old housing which meant I didn't have to do any fitting, The entire process of switching the internal components took less than fifteen minutes. The original failed because the heater fan motor seized up and the grille melted. That had been repaired and except for the grill, I have a spare unit. The plug-in wire connections made wiring a cinch and the simple component fastening also made the repair easy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Had an issue with the fan - resolved quickly! We purchased the exhaust fan that was originally in our home, which is nearly 30 years old, it finally gave up on us. When had it professionally installed and shortly afterwards, the fan started rattling. We contacted Broan, who shipped us a replacement fan, which arrived very quickly. Replacing the fan was not as difficult as I thought was going to be. The exhaust fan works well now. We now have heat, fan, and light in our bathroom again.

  • Broan 655 wireing question

Is this an exhaust fan? If so how do I wire to exhaust when I turn the light on and when I turn the other light switch to turn on the heater does the fan work to blow the heat down? The way it works out of the box is one switch turns on the light only and the other switch turns the fan and heater on. Is that exhausting and heating at the same time? Confused.

You need a triple switch, one for fan, one for light, and one for the heater. I wired mine up for 3 separate functions and all work great. Sounds like you need to hire an electrician. Good luck

how do i block blown in attic insulation from the vent holes?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question on the model 655 exhaust fan/heater/light. If you are getting blown in insulation through unused holes in the 655 housing, you can cover the holes with duct tape from the attic side of the unit housing.

hope to use only 2 switches- one for fan & lite and the other 1 for heat-any conflicts come to mind?

    Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question on the model 655 exhaust fan/heater/light. There should be no problem using one switch for the exhaust fan and light together and the second switch for the heater.

The exhaust fan motor stops, while the switch is still on, and if I tap on the housing it kicks back on, for a little while. The wiring is fine.

If the exhaust fan is going out can just it be replaced in the original housing?

Thank you for your question on the model 655 exhaust fan/heater/light. It sounds like the problem could be an intermittent connection or a bad motor. Please contact our Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for assistance.
