  • Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by PRETTY GOOD HEAT, VENT AND LIGHTING ESPECIALLY WITH AND LED BULB INSTALLED IN IT. THIS UNIT DOES A VERY GOOD JOB IN ALL ASPECTS. THE ONLY THING I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT IT IS HOW LOUD IT IS WHEN IT IS IN THE HEATING MODE. STARTING UP IT RATTLES THE PICTURES ON THE WALLS.... IMAGINE HAVING A CROP DUSTER CRANKING UP IT'S ENGINE IN YOUR BATHROOM!! April 28, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Drop-in Replacement This product was selected because it was an identical replacement for my old heater/fan/light. That meant that I could use the old housing which meant I didn't have to do any fitting, The entire process of switching the internal components took less than fifteen minutes. The original failed because the heater fan motor seized up and the grille melted. That had been repaired and except for the grill, I have a spare unit. The plug-in wire connections made wiring a cinch and the simple component fastening also made the repair easy. April 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by good I could not fit this model into existing area. i have had a model 650 installed for 30 plus years and still working. I am trying to locate the cover for the unit. Don Lyskawa was of great help with this problem. Where can i find the unit cover for the 650? Broan makes a product that is still working well after all these years. April 26, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by gets noisier and louder till it is unbearable I am on my fourth heater unit and second fan motor since purchasing this unit 3 years ago. Plan on replacing something at least once a year if you own one of these. These units gradually gets noisier and louder till it is unbearable in just a few months of use. I took one of the heater motors apart to see why it failed.. The motor bearing on the side to the squirrel cage fan had become so loose from the constant vibration that it would spin around with the motor shaft and it no longer offered any support to the squirrel cage fan that was free to wobble to the point that the armature of the motor would rub and cause the motor to slow down. Since it cost almost as much for a replacement heater motor as a new complete unit I am now looking to buy a third new unit for spare parts. Once you install one of these you are looking at a major job to remove it and go with a better unit, so I would recommend that you pay the extra and get a good one to start with! I wish I could give a zero stat or even a minus star for this product. March 31, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT EXHAUST, HEAT & LIGHT UNIT. I purchased 3 of these Broan units through Grainger for a new home we built in 1989. One unit's fan motor died after 15-16 years and I had to replace that motor. The other two units are still working just fine, but the motor for the heater is now making a noise. I cleaned & lubricated it and it seems fine now, but I am buying replacement motors for every unit. This June 1st will be 27 years old. It is way easier to repair than to replace. It is hard to get excited about an exhaust fan, but these are great. March 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Operates as expected We remodeled our bathroom and decided to replace our 33 year old bathroom exhaust fan/heater/light combination as part of the remodel project. Honestly, it was not easy to find a combination unit that performed all three functions - fan, light, and heater. This unit was one of the few available. It functions as we would expect it to function. It is much quieter than our 33 year old fan. The heat it puts out warms the bathroom quickly. Our only complaint would be that the flipper built into the unit that connects to the roof exhaust vent makes a 'click, click' noise when the wind blows. This was quite annoying to hear when trying to get to sleep. We were able to fix that by installing a second flipper in the exhaust line that was closer to the roof. All said - we are very satisfied with this unit. April 29, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Had an issue with the fan - resolved quickly! We purchased the exhaust fan that was originally in our home, which is nearly 30 years old, it finally gave up on us. When had it professionally installed and shortly afterwards, the fan started rattling. We contacted Broan, who shipped us a replacement fan, which arrived very quickly. Replacing the fan was not as difficult as I thought was going to be. The exhaust fan works well now. We now have heat, fan, and light in our bathroom again. April 28, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works like a Swiss Watch Even though I had a unit that had a problem, you were prompt in coming to my rescue. That in itself would make be buy another one in the future. April 28, 2016

We have a 655 installed right now, but we'd like to get a quieter fan and don't want to bust up the sheetrock to install a different housing. Can we purchase a quieter fan that will install in the 655 housing?

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 655 exhaust fan/heater/light. The only parts available for use in the 655 housing are the original replacement parts. If you need a quieter fan, you will need to completely remove the 655 from the ceiling and install another model. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 if you need further assistance.

How to remove the unit without busting up the sheetrock?

We have a 20 year old 655C heater-light-vent and are replacing it with a newer more stylish model. I have already removed the grill, the vent fan unit and the heater unit, but can't see how to get the overall housing out. Any suggestions?

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 655 exhaust fan/heater/light. The 655 is normally held in place by hanger brackets that go between the ceiling joists. If you do not have access from above, an attic or crawl space, you will need to tear out more of the ceiling dry wall that normally necessary and patch the ceiling after the installation is done. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your question on the model 655 exhaust fan/heater/light. We always recommend installing duct work to an exhaust fan and ducting it completely outside the house.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 100HFL exhaust fan/heater/light. There are several reasons why the thermal protector would keep blowing. The thermal protector can go out if the heater blower wheel has a build-up of dust on it, if the motor has slowed down or if you are running the heater for too long period of time. The heater is made for supplemental heat and to be run for 15 – 20 minutes at a time. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 if you need further assistance.

I have a Broan 659 that is over 20 years old. I need to replace it. Will the current model fit in the old housing? Will the new plugs fit into the old receptacle?
