Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and functional We've only had the hood in place a few days. So far we love it! It is a perfect complement to our newly remodeled kitchen. Operation is efficient. Lights over range are extremely helpful and sufficiently bright. Exhaust works great starting from lowest speed up to highest. I wish it were as silent as our Bosch dishwasher (we are spoiled by that) but it is 80% quieter than the ancient hood it replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Customer Service was great I installed this chimney hood in the wrong manner that caused the stainless steel chute to be scratched. When I put the glass in place, the glass scratched the stainless steel chute with a 10 inch scratch. My wife was very upset with me. My finger prints all over the chute was not a pretty sight either. It could have been avoided if I would have left the protective film in place till I was finished installing the glass. I sent an email to customer service and got the surprise of my life. Customer service sent me a replacement, and with instructions on how to remove the finger prints on the new replacement if I happen to make another mess. Needless to say, I will not remove the protective film. What great customer service. I will continue to buy Broan forever. Garry

  • How far should the electrical outlet be placed above the hood mounting bracket?

    Asked by: Puffy
Position the electrical outlet within the space covered by the decorative flue and where it will not interfere with the round duct. Make sure the outlet is no further than 8¼” from where the cord exits from the hood.  Should also check the outlet to verify it does not interfere with the mounting bracket fastening area, or where the decorative flue touches the wall. For technical service assistance, please call 1-800-637-1453.

    Where to mount the electric

All your documents, your answers on this page are no good in determining where to mount the plug socket. It shouldn't be more than 8" above the top of the blower unit, but show me one bloody diagram that says how high that is from the bottom of the unit. .
    Asked by: Nick
Thank you for your question on the model B5636SS range hood. If you are measuring from the very bottom of the hood (where the filters are) to approximately the top edge of the blower box it would be 13". From that point you have the 8 1/4" maximum that you see on page three of the installation instructions. If you have further questions, please contact our Technical Support Department directly at 800-637-1453.

    Upper flue vent question

The upper decorative flue has a vent (not the main vent that goes out of the house). What is that vent for? Does it matter if part of that vent is behind the ceiling as our ceiling is sloped ?
    Asked by: pmurthy
Thank you for your question on the model B5636SS range hood. The vent at the top of the upper flue is there for installing the B5636SS in a non-ducted configuration. If you are not ducting the hood to the outside, this vent should be exposed. If you are ducting the hood to the outside, then you will flip the extension around so you wouldn't see the vents.
