  • Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Inexpensive and easy to replace busted vent fan Was very easy to remove old one and put in new one. Literally plug and play. Interesting buying the whole unit was cheaper than just buying the replacement motor which I would have preferred since I did not need to replace the box and grille. September 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Needed to replace existing fan and this model fit perfectly, is more quiet and was reasonably priced. What more do you need? Easy to install, quiet and a great price. Good product. March 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by it is a good product a reliable and powerful fan at a reasonable price. Will buy the same product in future. March 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great price, clever design Great fan, maybe, if there is a deluxe model, it could be quieter, but its not too loud March 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by existing fan replacement We installed this replacement fan in 3/4 bath. The fan is strong and clears shower dampness very efficiently. But it is loud. If the instructions for replacing the fan with a plug were clearer, I would have been able to replace the fan myself rather than hiring someone. Since the existing fan plugged into the ceiling, it was very easy to replace; no wiring or going into crawl space was required. The instructions didn't say how to remove the existing fan (same type). Since we were replacing an existing fan of the same type, I wish I could have purchased this model without the housing; I just had to throw out the brand new housing; a waste of money and materials. Overall I would recommend this fan for a replacement; this one fit into our existing fixture perfectly. If you are installing a new one without an existing opening, then I would suggest you look for a model which is quieter. Our old one lasted 22 years; I assume this model will be as reliable. Rated 4 out of 5 by Over 6 months now and works great 6+ months ago i replaced my small bath's fan. i can not complain AT ALL..... for the price it sells this is absolutely amazing!! It removes foul air efficiently and works like a charm. With respect to noise level.... it is noisy, but i do not visit the toilet for reading or napping and have no problem with a little noise side-effect for 2-3 mins. I was very skeptical buying it because i thought it would not last for the ridiculous price i paid. So far so good... August 21, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Loud but work well in smaller bath. Have this in both baths. Works great in 40 sq. ft. bath. Noisy is my complaint since it is next to my TV room & have to turn tv up when it is on. Builders also put same model Broan 688 k in my larger bath, 80- to 85 sq ft. I understand why it seems much quieter now. 50 cfm not enough power. No suction. July 30, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Motor bearings fail. The bearings fail and the motor seizes up after a few years. I have several installed in my apartment building and I have to replace a motor unit every couple years. Higher quality bearings/lubricant should be used. Mike June 11, 2013

Which replacement fan model is correct size for my Broan 8 X 8.25 housing?

I have a Broan 671 fan installed in a Broan 663 housing; both are 8" X 8.25". The new model 671 is 7" X 7.25". What model can I use to install a new fan in the existing housing? These fans are many years old, perhaps from 1978 house construction!

Thank you for your question on exhaust fans. The only parts we can recommend for a specific model are the original replacement parts for that model. You can go to the “Shop for Parts” link at the top of our web site page to see the parts available for your specific model. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.

Thank you for your question on the part numbers 97012041 and S97012041. These are both the same part. The “S” is used in our system to designate a service part item.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 688 exhaust fan. Using three inch rigid duct work, the 688 can handle up to 13 feet of straight duct work. You would need to reduce that distance by three feet for every elbow installed.

The fan says two speeds, but came with no switch. The diagram seems to indicate it is either high or low, but never off. Or am I missing something?

    Answer:
Thank you for your question on the model 671 exhaust fan. The 671 is a single speed exhaust fan that is rated at 70 CFM. You can use a solid state speed control (model 57) with this fan to control the speed of the fan.

    Answer:
Thank you for your question. Broan model 670 is made to be used with 3" ducting. If you have 3" rigid duct, you can expect to achieve the rated CFM within approximately 13 feet. Each 90 degree 3" elbow is equivalent to 3 linear feet and is not considered in this figure. Please contact our Technical support group at 800-637-1453, if you intend to use a non specified duct size.
