Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like the speed control good design for a small space, difficult to install due to space constraints. Wish it would raise higher to catch more cooking odors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. We installed the 500 CFM Downdraft behind a 30 inch slide in gas range, we were very happy that it was so easy. You'll love it as much as we do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good idea; some work needs doing on the implementation I do really like my Downdraft. I have no other way of getting rid of cooking smoke, etc. My one big complaint: You can't clean it below the filters. I'm sure there is stuff that drips down the sides of it, but I can't get to any of it to clean it. I think, over time, it will build up and smell, as well as attract bugs. That's a real flaw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good vent for the price I really like the way this vent works - I didnt give it perfect scores for two reasons - I was putting it in where I previously had a downdraft stove - to connect the vent to the previous opening took a lot of creativity. If the vent wasnt so tall or you could place the exhaust on either side, it would be helpful providing more room for installation. the suction is good, not great - I think if you buy the external fan, it prvides more suction, but it also makes the unit more expensive. Overall good, not great. but still worth the money

  • How to clean the grease from under the filters and on the bottom?

    Asked by: Bummel
The installation instructions refer to taking off the blower box on the inside of the cabinet and vacuuming off motor. If there is grease build up on the blower wheel/blade you can wipe that off with a damp, soapy cloth. The unit would need to be taken apart if more cleaning is needed. Please contact Broan-NuTone Canada directly for more assistance at 888-882-7626.

Where are the filters for this vent and how do you take them out to clean?

    Asked by: rj
I have the same question: where are the filters and how to take them out. The answer said "The filters are in the air vent of this range hood." But I don't see them. Do I need to remove the cover from right end of air vent in order to see the filters? Can I see the filters through Chimney Assembly (Part # 19)? There must be something obvious that I missed. But I have been trying to find the filters for weeks!!!

Features between models of your downdraft systems

Please explain the primary differences in features between the Eclipse and the Elite systems. Also, the pictures don't clearly show where the controls are located so can you explain where they are?
    Asked by: bobl
One button on top in the down position flush with the countertop, then, when it pops up, a rotating switch on the right side controls the volume of airflow.

What are the actual dimensions of the chimney housing and blower housing?

I know that the overall width is 26-1/4" and with the blower housing, it has a depth of 7", and is 29-1/2" tall, but what about the height of the blower housing and the depth of the chimney housing. These can be critical dimensions when trying to locate the appliance inside the cabinet and align with ductwork, electrical wiring, electrical boxes, gas valves, and gas lines.

down draft unit for slide in ranges

Since considerable interest for a down draft unit for slide in ranges has been expressed could there be any plans to produce such ?
    Asked by: ronz
Thank you for your question on down draft kitchen exhaust systems. You may want to look at a Best Cattura model D49M series downdraft system. It can be installed with a free–standing range, drop–in cooktop, gas or electric cooktop, slide–in range or a built–in oven with a cooktop. You can view these at www.bestrangehoods.com. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 if you need further assistance.
