  • Explain transitition?

I need a 7" damper for Broan range hood that will adapt to 5" original duct or an adapter for 7" to 5" duct.

Thank you for your question on range hood ducting transitions. We do not have a transition to convert a 7" duct to a 5" duct. If the range hood requires 7" duct work, you need to stay with the 7" duct from the hood all the way to the outside. Broan does manufacture the 52,000 series range hood which does use a 5" duct size.

What is a damper/adapter for my range hood?

I am currently looking for a range hood. I have never had to buy one cause it was in my house when I bought it. Can someone/anyone please tell me what it is and what does it do? I also want to know how important is it when making a decision on what one I end up purchasing? Thank you

Thank you for your question on the model P85 five inch gravity fed vertical discharge damper. This is a damper used with range hoods that require five inch duct work and are vented vertically. It is a good idea to have a damper attached to your range hood to keep the outside air from coming back inside. Please contact our Canadian office at 888-882-7626 for further assistance.

Is the P85/P87 damper manually controlled or is closure triggered by fire or smoke?

    Asked by: Mike
Thank you for your question on the model P85/P87 back draft dampers. The P85 and P87 are gravity dampers that are generally used with range hoods. They operate by gravity only and are not fire dampers.
