    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stopped working At first I loved having fresh air in my home during freezing weather but then the blower went out after 18 months I had to pay almost 1000 dollars to replace it !!!! It failed 6 times in 10 years !! The worse investment I made in my house ,,,, by far . Now , it stopped again but this time I don't think it's the blower , I'm thinking it's the control box or something in it . I'm afraid to even call for prices on the parts , I have a feeling it's very expensive so this time I'm going to call the manufacturer and ask for help ,, if they don't I'm buying a different brand ..     Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blower motors fail after 2 years I have replaced the blower assy in this unit 4 times in 10 years. I do believe the motor or its "auto-reseting motor temperature limit" is not sized properly. I should not have to replace a blower unit 4 times in 10 years. And I believe its rated for continuous duty. The only way to get the motor is to order a entire blower assembly. I could have bought a new unit with the cost these blowers. I am an HVAC tech. Will not use the Broan brand again just because of the HUGE disappointment this unit has turned out to be.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet. Effective. Controllable. I installed my HRV last year in the house I built. The house is very air tight and needed to breathe, and I wanted to control the breathing. The HRV 100, is very quiet and it brings fresh air into my home continuously. My home is very small, so I need constant fresh air. I like the heavy gauge steel used for the enclosure, nothing seems flimsy or of low quality. I live in a cold climate, so this helps reduce my energy bill even though it uses energy. I like that I can control the speed and turn it off when desired. It helps to eliminate household smells because it is replacing stale air with fresh air. This did take some time because it was a DIY project, and I am not an HVAC professional, but it is not difficult to understand. The one thing this should have with it, but does not, is the proper controller. It comes with a toggle switch mounted on the side of the unit. The remotely located controller is separate. If there are controller options, they should be available when ordering. Ensure your fresh air supply duct is insulated or it will attract moisture.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why has it stopped working Our Broan air exchanger was installed professionally and functioned very well the first year. I was very happy with the way it was running, but I wasn't sure if I was operating the controls properly. It needs manual adjustment frequently, depending on the outside air temp. The second year however I began to notice that it was running intermittently and finally stopped working entirely. I have turned power off to the unit and hope to find the opportunity to get a service pro out to take a look at it.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did a good job of eliminating moisture 1st year; haven't used since as gets house too dry. Sure had a time trying to figure out how to use your item - instruction book rather confusing. I do think as a woman owning this item your manual could be more specific. Really like the fresh air intake EXCEPT that the vent outside has to be cleaned off with a tooth brush often. Live on a very dusty road and also have a lot of misquitoes inside box. Haven't used the dehumidifer portion during the last couple winters except in beginning of season - humidity too low in house. Dealer mentioned other people don't use it either. Wonder if that works against the high efficient furnace!

  • HRV100H Unite VT1W Control - Won't stay running

    HRV100H unit will run for 10mins sometimes longer and stop whether switched on manual or remote but wont come on again til unplug and replug. What could be the matter?

    Just a follow-up. I talked with Broan's Tech Service Dept. and they said it sounds like the thermistor is going. Its abt a $30part. I decided to clean it. There was quite a buildup of crud and so far so good its working. If it stops in the near future I will know it needs to be changed out.     HRV100H unit does not work using main control

    Unit works using optional controls and the switch on the HRV. The main control is a VT1W.

    Replacement unit?

    Seems like this one is dead - controls, sensors, gate all working, but motors ain't. Is there a compatible replacement unit for this that allows me to use vents and controls already in place?

    Most likely will need to replace motor but they sell motor assembly together which is not needed and high price. let me know how it goes Thanks

    My unit won't turn on

    I have checked the outlet and there appears to be no problem but the unit wont start. Any trouble shooting ideas?

    Open the box push the interlock switch Turn the unit switch to high or low speed instead of remote See if the blower motor spins Also notice if the unit powers on and closes the valves if motor blower do not spin and valve closes or open for air the replace motor assembly if the motor doesn't spin and the air valves do not close check the circuit board or fuse You can find the troubleshoot guide online under installation instruction.
