Rated 2 out of 5 by from When working Great, but not reliable! This unit has all the features I wanted. I had 2 similar featured Broan units originally in my bathrooms but when 1 died I replaced it with this one. I had it professionally installed and it failed quickly not long afterwards. They sent me a replacement part and it worked fine until now. Again the heating element appears to have failed! Too bad that Broan seems to be having a lot of trouble with this product but hasn't contacted customers about a permanent solution. Since I know what's wrong with it, I'll fix it again... but as far as recommending this unit to someone else. A definite NO! As a matter of fact, I have 3 Broan fans and even installed their partner Nutone's Central Vacuum System in my home when it was built. After seeing the LOW STANDARDS of Quality they set for this unit, I'll never purchase one of their products again. Afterall, it wasn't cheap to buy and have installed and would be a real pain to have to do again with another Brand, so I'll probably put up with it for the time being. But if the new element doesn't last very long I may have no choice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great exhaust fan with heat! This is an excellent bathroom fan which is fairly quiet when running the exhaust fan. This unit also has a heater as well which really heats up a cold bathroom quickly. I did have a minor hiccup with the heating element but Broan quickly assisted me with the issue and everything is working perfectly now. Broan also has some of the best customer service I have encountered. That alone is worth 5 starts in my book!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Every good but heater element Installed 2 in Texas in summer time on home addition. Downstairs bath heater has never worked, of course didn't find that out until our short winter started in January. Good except heater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty warm! Not only does this Broan Fan/Heater/Light keep me comfortably warm while in and out of the shower, it also serves as a hair dryer. And I received excellent customer service.

just bought a model 100HFL at lowes a month ago its all installed so i can't return it ...... the heater dose'nt work it did when it was installed an now just the blower on the heater works ... no heat .... what do i do now ?
    Asked by: bruce
Nothing to reset - the Heating Element must be replaced. The thermal fuse is a one-shot deal. I have an electronics technician (works for me) who looked the heating element over after the most recent failure. Unfortunately Broan/NuTone did not use the resetting type of thermal switch. In my review I called upon them to review this (obvious) flaw in design. My recommendation is to start with giving Customer Service the opportunity to resolve this for you.

can this unit be insttalled in a finished ceiling

    Asked by: wls
Thank you for your question on the model 100HFL exhaust fan/heater/light. If you are installing the 100HFL in a finished ceiling with access from above (attic or crawl space) the installation should not be too bad. If there is no access from above you will need to tear out more ceiling than would normally be necessary and patch the ceiling after the installation. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.

can a speed control be used on the vent fan?

    Asked by: Bill
Thank you for your question on the model 100HFL exhaust fan/heater/light. You can install a solid state speed control on the exhaust fan section but definitely not on the heater section.
