I contacted them and they took great care of me by replacing it for no fees. Tammy the E-Data Coordinator was just great by taking the issue head on and sending my to their technical department where Chuck absolutely took care of the problem.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from It failed in a month, but keep reading... Within a moth of operation the motor failed. Until then the unit operated as promised and did a great job of cooling the house (we live in Hawaii). After noticing the unit wasn't operating I called customer service which transferred me over to Trish in the tech department. She assessed the problem to be the motor. The new motor was back ordered until 8/1 and I received it on 8/4. I've yet to get up on the roof and install it, but I'm confident it will do the trick. I'll let you know. But the purpose of this revue is to commend the Broan team on their excellent customer service. I didn't have to send copies of my receipt, go up on the roof to pull the old motor out and pay to send it to them, or pay shipping on the new motor... no hassles at all! (In spite of the complex legalese in their warranty) I was treated with respect and they stand behind their product. This is the way customer service should be! Thanks, Trish, and the crew at Broan!

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful fan. Almost perfect product... This fan was a straightforward, simple install. It can move some serious air when the heat hits hard (100+ in my area)! I immediately noticed a big difference in my 1949 home. Unfortunately, after running for about two months, the fan stopped working because the bracing holding the motor got loose. The motor slid downward to the point where the fan blades started hitting the braces that attach the hood to the base. Eventually the fan blades got lodged against the bracing and the fan stopped moving. Luckily the motor did not burn out and I was able to shove in a couple of wedges and tie wraps to prevent this from happening again (see picture). This fan does run pretty hard so my guess is that the bracing wasn't tight enough coming from the factory. Other than that little issue, this is a great fan. A bit pricey for my taste but it's a simple DIY so it's worth the price.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reduced temp and humidity in Attic Very pleased with the vent. We had an issue with high humidity in the attic and the fan has helped to equalize the humidity with the outside and reduced the temp which is an added plus. The fan makes noise, but it cant be heard once you close the attic door. Great product. Lets see how long it lasts!

  • We have one roof vent at each end of our 50 x 15 x 4 gable roof; no eave vents. Will this solar vent product work for us? Should we use a thermostat?

    We live in So. Calif., and the home is 100 years old. Vents are on west and east ends of house, and positioned in direction of max. air flow. (Winds from the west.)

The 345SOWW is designed for attics that are a maximum of 3200 cubic feet and has a minimum of 2 square feet of inlet area. If your attic area meets these specifications, it should work fine for you. You should not need to use an additional thermostat. Please contact the Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453 for further assistance.

    Can it be hooked up to a battery for night time operation?

    I want to install this in a very small church that is off the grid for ventilation. Services take place in the evening so it is important that it will run when it is dark Thanks, Mel

    When I can't find prices I go to another site that is more informative. Not being able to quickly ascertain the price of an item is maddening when you are planning a big project. I don't have time for games!

You can contact the Customer Service Department at 800-558-1711 to get suggested list pricing, but you would probably be better off using the “Dealer Locator” link at the top of our web site page to find distributors in your area to get current pricing. Many of the distributors do have web sites and list their prices.

    Will the unit charge sufficiently on the north facing roof?

    Similar question was asked but the answer was insufficient. Here's your answer: "Thank you for your question on the model 345SOBK roof mounted solar powered attic ventilator. The installation instructions are only a recommendation of how and where the unit should be installed. Installation on the south, southwest or west side of the home normally gives you the best opportunity for the solar cells to receive the brightest and longest amount of sunlight." My roof is 12/12 pitch and the roofers for some reason decided to mount the units on the north-facing roof. Will the unit get enough sunlight to charge sufficiently?

    Thank you for your question on Broan attic fans. I cannot honestly tell you if your unit will work properly. The solar power attic fan gets its power from the sun and will only run when the sun is out. How much sun does your roof get on the north side or is there anything shading it out certain times of the day like trees, building structures, ect. The solar power ventilator does not charge or store electricity. It runs when it has enough light to power the motor.
