Finding it almost impossible to find a replacement lamp for this fan. Beats me that it could not be designed for a standard threaded base bulb. They need to come up with a retrofit kit to change the bulb base.

After a few years of use there are rust inside that can been seen and some parts are broken off due to rust. Fan and recess light are on the same switch. Would not recommend this product in its current specifications, perhaps coating all of the metal parts with paint of some type of resin coating would help to improve on the product longivity. Two-in-one (fan + recess light) is an awesome design for tight space though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Edmo Great unit for small bathroom!
My wife and I were shopping for a bathroom fan that looks good, is quiet, and keeps the bathroom dry after long showers. My bathroom requires a fan rated for 64 CFM minimum. We selected the Broan 744 with a rating of 70 CFM. The fan is quiet and the recessed installation appeals to us. Shortly after installing the unit, however, I noticed that long showers resulted in moisture on the ceiling. I went up the attic to inspect the installation and re-taped the exhaust duct to the unit for a good seal, and also re-positioned the attic insulation flat/against the top of the ceiling sheet rock to minimize condensation due to the cold air in the unheated attic and the warm bathroom. This helped alleviate moisture on the bathroom ceiling after showers. My only recommendation to readers is when determining minimum CFM required, note whether your installation is ideal per Broan instructions. If not, consider purchasing a fan that exceeds the minimum required CFM. For example, if you use a corregated duct in lieu of sheet metal, or have an additional 90 degree turn or elbow, don't hesitate to select a fan with a higher CFM. The Broan 744 has been installed for nine months and is meeting my family's needs and expectations.

This fan is amazing. Not only does it look much better than those ugly and huge grill type fans, but its so quiet. I seriously have to stop sometimes and stand still to hear it.
The humidistat feature is fantastic as well as it comes on automatically and leaves me with worries about moisture. I would highly recommend this fan. I've had mine for a full year now and have no regrets.
I'm an architect by the way, and I now use this fan on my projects if I can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris Great Option for Limited Space
I am a master electrician who has installed many type of recess can lights and exhaust fans. This product installs with ease and works well in small ceiling spaces. Performance is very good, with low noise level.
Installed Qty 2 in our lower level bath that is appprox 300 SQ FT. When opened product box it was missing a trim housing for recess can light. Contacted Broan and one was sent out right away with no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dallas75208 Very quiet
I am very pleased with how quiet this fan is. I can barely hear if it is on, in fact you have to listen real carefully. The one thing I would say is the fluorescent bulb's light output is a little disapointing. It is supposed to put out 60 watts, but it seems a little weak, and it may just be the bulb that ships with the fan. The lightoutput will not match other smilar regular can lights (especially with Halogen bulbs). However, I highly recommend the fan for anyone who wants a very quiet bathroom fan, with can light design. Also the FL model has the humidity sensor which seems to work well. The regular model uses a reglar PAR30 bulb instead of flouresent, but does not have the humidity sensor.
