Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Sensor Replacement I've had this model for 2 years when the humidity sensor attached to the grille starts malfunctioning, fan runs continuously. Can't find anywhere to buy just the sensor, Pretty poor design if the most important part that controls the fan is not available. Broan sells a grille assembly with spring clips and sensor wire for $73 but it does not describe a sensor module included. Probably is included but not going to pay $73 to replace a sensor!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and Fast. Eagerly awaiting replacement of other noisy fans. Whisper quiet, clears smells and humidity impressively quickly. Installation is only easy if construction is perfect but if replacing another model, it will be a bit more difficult. Technical support is excellent. **Note that this is item has automatic humidity sensors and on and off for de-stinking. You may opt for manual controlling as we did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great features The humidity sensor level is adjustable which allows the exhaust fan to go on at the right humidity level. I like that you can set the exhaust for automatic operation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent fan, but a bit sensitive to ambient humidity I purchased this for it's noise level and humidity sensor because I did not have the wiring to add an independent timer. Generally this unit works very well and it is nice not having to remember to flip a switch as it automatically turns on when the humidity increases from the shower. However, on really humid days, the ambient humidity in the attic/exhaust vent duct is enough to trip the humidity sensor and turn on the fan. This becomes problematic in the summer when the unit keeps turning on and evacuating air conditioned air.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value The unit was easy to install at a decent price. The settings are a nice feature that you can customize when it comes on & how long it runs for. It's more than just a blower you turn on & off. A lot quieter than the unit it replaced.

  • Do I need to use a switch?

Can I leave this unit permanently powered above a shower? I would like to run power piggybacked from a GFCI receptacle and leave the unit permanently powered as this will be a second fan in the bathroom whose sole purpose is to remove humidity due to shower use (my wife takes hot showers and often forgets to turn on the bathroom fan which is leading to a mold problem)
    Asked by: Rick
Yes, that is a perfect application. The humidity sensor will turn itself on / off based on the humidity you preset it to, with the power to the unit on all the time. The unit works very well and is as quiet as advertised.

Can any of your quiet fans (humidity sensing or switch operated) have 2 units share one duct (for back to back bathrooms?

    Asked by: Walt
With appropriate sized ducting, in case both fans are on at the same time, it should work fine. Each fan has louvers at the junction to the duct (the black part in the picture), so will prevent back flow into the second fan.

    Air conditioning and fan

We had two of these fans installed last fall. Firstly they are not quite. Secondly when the air conditioning came on in the Spring so did the fans, why? While the air conditioning is running so are the fans which means there is constant background noise and I'm not sure how this is going to affect my electric bill with them running almost constantly.
    Asked by: Jane
Thank you for your question on the model QTXE110S humidity sensing exhaust fan. The air conditioning should be taking moisture out of the air, so theoretically the fans should not come on. You may want to adjust the humidity sensor for a little higher relative humidity level. When installed properly, this fan is a very quiet fan. where can I buy the humidity sensor of this fan?

My fan in bathroom keeps running. The sensor's status indicator never turns on. I adjusted the sensor settings and it didn't work. I think the sensor is broken. Where I can buy a sensor to replace it? Thanks!

    Unit won't turn off automatically

I have a brand new unit. It comes on as expected, a few minutes after starting to shower. But it has never turned off automatically - always requiring turning off the switch. When turning it back on, it will again delay waiting for humidity, so it does not appear to think there is still sufficient humidity. Is there some other setting or problem that can be causing this?
