Unclear directions for installation.
This range hood was not easy to install. The holes in the hood did not line up with any wood surfaces in which to screw them. My husband and I had to modify the cabinet in order to install the range hood. Also the description said 2 light settings and a night light. There is no night light setting in addition to the high and low settings. That is false advertising in my opinion. Range hood looks nice. I still don't know how well it works. We just finished installing it.

Once installed it works great.
This under cabinet range hood would possibly be installed easier if I didn't have to deal with an existing exhaust vent. It was literally a pain in the a__.

Great range hood
My range hood installed very easy and it looks great. The fan can really clear out any smoke or odors. I couldn't be more pleased.

This is an excellent hood...
We recently moved into a different house. The existing range hood was old, noisy and barely moved any air. After doing a LOT of research, I decided on the Broan QT230BL range hood. Installation was fairly easy, as all the mounting holes matched the previous hood, but the existing vertical duct was slightly off center. No biggie, I was able to move the damper assembly 1/4" to the right, and then the hood fit perfectly.
The variable-speed fan is very quiet even at full speed, and the two-level lighting is nice. The fan draws very evenly from all corners of the cook-top, with no "spill-out" into the room. I'm very happy with the looks, performance, and value of this hood, and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Stylish stainless steel, variable speed fan.
This range hood works effectively with useful multi-setting variable speed. Also has over head light with two settings that is very useful; the brighter setting helps with cooking and the lower setting is useful for a night light, or if you need subdued lighting all around to enjoy the meal you have just prepared.

the vent works ok, but the workmanship is terrible. spot welds are very visible and there are gaps in the seams that should be tight. it was very disappointing to open the box and find a third rate vent. we had hoped that we could show off our new range and hood, but we don't want guests to see this mess.

Fan or No Fan
In reviewing the specs on Home Depot's web site, it states this model does not come with a fan. However, in reviewing the information on your site, it appears that it does. So...does the Broan QT20000, in black, come with a fan?
Yes, it has a fan.

36 1/2 inches

My light cover yellowed, cracked, and then fell apart.
In the future, use the new type of fluorescent light bulbs. They produce very little heat and won't discolor the light cover. 40 Watt rating is perfect producing only about 9 watts.

How do I get the fan switch to work?
When I turn on the fan switch the fan does not turn on. All the wiring connections seem to be intact. There is power to the unit as the lights turn on. How can I problem solve this. Thanks.

2 bare black wire, which goes to power and which to light swithch
I am installing a qt2000 range hood that has 2 lights. there are 2 bare black wires. one is a red wire that is spliced with another black wire and ends with an unattached black wire. The other comes from a connection that has 2 black wires coming into it. It looks like the light connection should have 3 wires to it, but it only has 2. A black wire and the red wire that is spliced to a black wire. Which black wire should go to the power and which to the light swithch
Thank you for your question on the model QT230BL range hood. This range hood should only have a single stripped black wire and a single stripped white wire to connect to the house wiring. If there are more individual wires inside the hood to connect, you should take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement. The white wire would connect to the house white neutral wire and the black wire would connect to a hot (110V) power wire. For further assistance please contact our Technical Service Department at 800-637-1453.
